Horseshoe Cottage Murphys

Our peaceful 1-bedroom cottage has everything you need for your Murphys getaway (two adults, not suitable for infants/children). The unit includes self check-in, free parking, free coffee & tea. During your stay, you can also enjoy using a convenient private bathroom, kitchen, and living room. Horseshoe Cottage is within walking distance to Locke Vineyard or 1 mile driving distance to downtown Murphys w/ great restaurants, park, and wineries. An ideal base to explore the area. No pets. The space Lighted rock walkway leads to the private porch entrance. Step up into cozy comfort. Originally designed as a Mother-in-law apartment, it is close to the main house but still very private. Horseshoe Cottage Murphys features a full kitchen, gas stove top, oven & microwave. Coffee/tea station is all ready for your arrival along with perk coffee pot and Gold Country Roasters premium ground coffee in the cupboard. There are 2 cats, Maggie (a lab), new large puppy Lacey, Bella, the black mare and 2 - 4 visiting horses on the property. We ask that you please do not leave doors open nor let any of the friendly pets into the cottage out of respect for our guests who might have pet allergies. The 2 cats, Sammie & Yoshi are not lap cats but don't mind some attention if you’re willing. Neither the grounds nor Cottage are childproof or child friendly. For this reason we do not allow infants nor children. There are many more vacation homes in our area that are more suited for families. Horseshoe Cottage is limited to two adults for a quiet get away. Grounds lovingly landscaped by Dan who would love for you to wander about and enjoy. The terraced sitting area across the bridge is a perfect spot for morning coffee or afternoon wine. The shade on the porch is there to block morning sun and heat coming in the front windows. The rod is hanging on the horseshoe hooks just inside the door if you need to raise or lower. Please do not hesitate to ask if you need assist with anything. Do keep in mind we are in a rural area surrounded by pastures, native oak trees and nature’s presence in the form of bees, hummingbirds, dragon flies, mosquitoes, birds, rarely snakes, spiders & garden bugs. Keeping doors closed will aid in keeping them out of the Cottage. However, in the summer months should you leave food out or don’t wipe down counters after cooking, the ants 🐜 are amazing at finding a way in. We do have a quarterly bug program as well as a monthly fly program ongoing during the summer months to provide a comfortable stay. There is also bug spray on the top shelf of the pantry should you feel the need. Please don’t spray the pets! And read the labels carefully before using any chemicals. Guest access You are welcome to enjoy the horseshoe pit and raised patio across the bridge from the main house for a relaxing view of the property. This is the perfect location for morning coffee or afternoon wine. Locke Vineyards is just a casual short walk down the road. Picnic table patio is a shared space with your hosts. Other things to note Dan and I leave our guests alone to enjoy their own private peaceful getaway. However should you find us out and about, you are most welcome to come say hi. * WiFi currently spotty through September 29, 2025. According to ATT they are conducting maintenance on several of their area towers that is causing sporadic outages or slow transmission. Will remove this note when they are completed.
