There are two additional bedrooms ( 1 double and 1 single) available for $60/person/night. Extra room for single occupancy is also $60/night. These facilities are very suitable for a family or small group travelling together. A cot is available for a family with a young child for $20/night. Guests will enjoy the use of the guest only bathroom (shampoo and conditioner provided) immediately adjoining their bedrooms. There is a hairdryer, and bathrobes/slippers available for guests. The owner's bathroom facilities are entirely separate. There is access by lift from the street level, so you do not have to carry heavy suitcases up any steps or stairs. The house is fully centrally heated. Free on-street parking is available, or if you prefer, we can arrange secure garaging for $15/night. Guest access There is free access to fast WiFi (300+mps) in guest areas You will have access to a washing machine. The first load is free, but we charge $5 for the second and subsequent loads. We also charge for the use of the drier should it be required (the Wellington breeze is free). Alternatively, a full laundry service is available by negotiation. All guests are able to enjoy use of large sitting room for relaxing and reading. A comprehensive library is available for guests to browse and/or borrow. The kitchen, which is part of the host's private space may be available for use by guests. There is also a large formal private dining room adjoining the guest sitting room. This also may be available to guests . Dinner can also be provided if required, but must be ordered the previous day. There are sunny decks with expansive views front and rear. The rear deck has evening sun and a BBQ is on the verandah. There is a private and sheltered paved courtyard at the rear, with an adjacent lawn and garden area available for relaxation. This area is fully fenced and secure for dogs. During your stay Your hosts, Philip and Robyn, are more than happy to help you choose and plan an itinerary for your stay in Wellington. We can help you arrange tours, book restaurants and get tickets as required. For an exhaustive list of what is available in Wellington, you will need to visit the iSite in the city. This is approximately 15mins walk away. Other things to note There is a fifteen minute downhill walk to the central city, and you may return by cable car (every 10mins) or by bus (every 20-30mins). The local attractions that are within a 10 -20min walk, include the Zealandia bird sanctuary, the Wellington Botanical Gardens, The Space Place (aka the Carter Observatory and Planetarium), the Cable Car Museum and the Kelburn Village shops and cafes . Most other Wellington attractions are also within a 20-30min walk or are a short drive away. These include the Te Papa National Museum, the National Portrait Gallery, Parliament, the National War Memorial and Wellington's “Golden Mile" retail precinct, as well as Courtenay Place where Wellington's restaurants, cinemas, theatres, pubs and night-life are centred. Other regional attractions include the “Wellywood" film precinct in the suburb of Miramar (Weta Cave etc), a scenic drive around the harbour and along the south coast, and a choice of several heated swimming pools, or safe and sandy beaches for picnicking. For more active guests, there is a choice of kayaking and wind-surfing, hiking and mountain bike trails, harbour and coastal fishing, fly fishing for trout in the Hutt and Wainuiomata rivers, as well as easy access to the Kapiti Coast and the Wairarapa wine trail.
