From Pilastri 36 you can walk to all major sites in town: the Duomo is nearby, and so are the Uffizi Gallery, the Accademia, the Palazzo Vecchio, San Marco, San Lorenzo, and the Old Bridge. Our apartment is on the third floor of a XVII century building, which, as it is the case in this area, is without lift (45 steps). Located in a side street, it keeps you sheltered from the lively night life of Sant'Ambrogio - a most popular and trendy spot in town. There are three rooms: a master bedroom with a wardrobe and antique pieces, a studio-bedroom, and a living space with a fully equipped kitchen. In the studio bedroom there is a single bed, a wardrobe, shelves and a desk. Both bedrooms have air conditioning. The space in the living room, decorated with contemporary art, is the area for relaxing and cooking after a day around town. In the kitchen you find a big refrigerator with freezer, toaster, tea pot and coffee makers, microwave, oven and stove, dishwasher, washing machine, and all you need to cook and set your table. There is also a TV. The bathroom has shower, bidet, and hairdrier. Our place retains its original ancient features with Tuscan terracotta tiled floors and ceilings, wooden beams and inlaid stones. The windows open on Florentine roofs. Upon arrival you will have to show your passport or ID as your data must be transmitted to the local authorities as required by the law. If you stay longer than 30 nights, the Italian law requires a registered contract easily made by us online. For the final cleaning: € 60. HOW TO REACH VIA DEI PILASTRI FROM THE TRAIN STATION Via dei Pilastri is at only 20 minutes walking distance from the main train station of Santa Maria Novella (or about 10 minutes by taxi). If you opt for the public transportation, you can reach us by bus no. 14 or bus no. 23 or no. 6, getting off at "Colonna 01". From there take Via Farini, where the Synagogue is, and in a few minutes you will be there. Another bus alternative is taking the small buses C2 or C3, and get off at the stop "Annigoni": you will be a few meters from our place. FROM THE AIRPORT From the Florence airport the best way to reach our place is by taxi (flat fee € 35 ) or by the "Tranvia" - a new metro line that runs very frequently between the airport ant the main train station, bringing you there in 20 minutes. The cost is € 1.70 per person. From the main station you can take bus n. 14 or n. 23 and get off at 'Colonna 1', or Bus C2 and get off to Annigoni stop, or walk, or get a cab. BY CAR The historical center - the so-called ZTL (Limited Traffic Zone) - is restricted to cars and only residents can park there. If you arrive by car you must pay for a private garage the entire period of your stay. We can suggest a garage upon request (the cost per 24 hours roughly goes from 30 to 35 Euros, or more. It is better, however, to come to Florence by train or by plane. Florence is a relatively small city and the best way to get to know it is by walking, fully immersing yourself in its beautiful streets and alleys.
