This is my beautiful studio apartment; when it's not on Airbnb, I live here. So it's a real home with everything you need for your comfort. It's not a soulless space repurposed for tourist use. Very quiet despite its fantastic location in the historic center of Madrid. My apartment is in a listed building from 1890, on a pedestrian and tree-lined street in Madrid de los Austrias: area where the royal court lived, during the almost two centuries that the Habsburg dynasty lasted in Spain. It is the only apartment located on the ground floor of a building that has 4 floors in total. 2 apartments in each floor. It is a great found for couples looking to scape for a long weekend in one of the most romantic neighbourhoods of Madrid. Fully furnished with modern touches, white and pistachio colour scheme. Exposed white brick wall and lovely exposed wood beams contrast with shiny hardwood floors. One large window in living room overlooking the monumental Royal Theatre. Full separate bathroom with high-end detachable showerhead. Full bed / Tempur mattress, with clean linens and towels provided in in the bedroom. with a small closet for your personal belongings. FREE Wi-Fi Internet, TV with all national networks, Apple TV. Very quite in spite of its fantastic centric location. The building is on pedestrian, tree-lined street in a beautiful area with fine restaurants and and unique shops. Walking distance to the Royal Palace, Opera, Plaza Mayor and Mercado San Miguel and just a short walk to Madrid Río (Madrid's park by the river) You will immediately feel at home at this great neighbourhood, full of personality and lovely architecture, with all major tourist attractions close by. It is just a short walk to the metro (Opera and Sol) where you can easily get everywhere in Madrid (5 min. to Atocha, 40 min to the Airport) Walking distance to the Museum triangle: Thyssen Prado and Reina Sofia Museums. 2 minute walk to the major Tourist Information office in the city, with lots of information and ideas for you to do. CITY SECURITY OVERVIEW Madrid, the capital of Spain, is a lively city, especially at night. Although violent crime against foreigners is rare, petty crime is a serious problem. People should be careful at Lavapiés, Plaza Dos de Mayo and Calle Orense areas at night, and take precautions against pickpockets in the city centre. Central Madrid is small and easy to get around. The heart of the city lies between the Prado Museum and the Royal Palace, just where you will be staying. The main business and banking area is located around Nuevos Ministerios, just off the main street of Paseo de la Castellana. The major tourist areas in the city are the Royal Palace, Puerta del Sol, Opera, Plaza Mayor, and Huertas. CRIME Petty crime is a major problem in tourist-frequented locations such as the Atocha train station, Puerta del Sol, Santa Ana, in popular areas of old Madrid and on Plaza Mayor. Foreign personnel should keep an eye on their belongings at all times, especially at Barajas Airport, metro stations, local hotels and in El Rastro (Madrid's flea market), where thieves are known to operate.
