Originally built in the 1940's, our Bungalow at Grand Canyon West has been freshly painted and updated. It offers easy access, free parking, Wi Fi, premium TV, back yard with privacy fence, a BBQ grill, and is close to nearby attractions. Enjoy visiting Grand Canyon West, Grand Canyon Western Ranch, Lake Mead, the Colorado River, hiking or exploring nearby, or simply relaxing at the house with a book from our library. Watch for our beautiful sunsets and star-filled skies at night. Our Welcome book includes helpful hints, local history, and additional information for your stay. Guests can enjoy hiking in nearby areas, and of course, plan a visit to Grand Canyon West for awe-inspiring views, the famous glass Skywalk, helicopter rides to the bottom, ride the zip line, see the village, and more. Those who can bring their toys can also take advantage of 4-wheel drive exploring, boating, and fishing in our area. We have plenty of parking space for your trailer or extra vehicle. The nearby town of Meadview offers 2 restaurants, and 2 convenience stores: Family Dollar & Gas 'n Grub. Gas, beer, and wine are available at the Gas 'n Grub location. Our Bungalow at Grand Canyon West is a No Smoking home. Enjoy the fresh air here, or please smoke cigarettes, cigars, or pipes outside. Whole house and private back yard with BBQ grill. Your hosts live in a second building on the property. Someone is generally available during your stay. We are located in the picturesque rural northwest Arizona desert amid the largest Joshua Tree forest in the world. Our home has views of the Grand Wash Cliffs, spectacular sunrises and sunsets, quiet days and starlit skies at night. Our Bungalow at Grand Canyon West is one of the nearest accommodations to the West Grand Canyon Skywalk, and is just a short drive to Lake Mead. For those seeking the big city lights, shopping, and world renowned entertainment Las Vegas is only 1.5-2 hours away. Kingman, AZ, our nearest city, is just 45 minutes to 1 hour away. There you'll find grocery stores, shopping, auto repair services, medical care facilities, and other conveniences. In Meadview you'll find basic food and supplies at the local Family Dollar store, beer or wine and gas at Gas 'n Grub, and dining available at any of 3 family-owned restaurants. The local bar - Fisherman's Landing also has package carry-out for alcohol purchases. Ma's Mini Market is right next door. They're open 9AM-6PM 7 days/week and offer a nice selection of snacks, drinks, fresh and canned foods, some frozen meats, and a smoke shop. Plan to shop for other fresh foods and specialty needs in Kingman or Las Vegas/Henderson/Boulder City on your way. You'll find the Western Ranch between just 5 or 6 miles from the Bungalow on the road to Grand Canyon West. They're open 7 days/week. They offer horseback riding, a shooting range, and a hayride to the buffalo. I like to recommend them for dinner when you can enjoy a singing cowboy for entertainment followed by a bon fire with s'mores after dark. Our Bungalow at Grand Canyon West is conveniently located on Pierce Ferry Rd between mile markers 30 & 31, just past the turn off to Grand Canyon West. Tips: 1) Be sure to carry plenty of water; and wear sunscreen and a hat when out in the desert sun. 2) Visitors should take caution and pull well off to the side of the road when taking pictures. 3) Watch for free range cattle and wildlife that are known to cross main roads like Pierce Ferry and Stockton Hill, especially when driving at dawn, dusk or after dark. 4) The typical rental car will be fine for getting to Grand Canyon West, into Meadview, and down to Lake Mead or the Colorado River. Motorcycles will want to avoid Anteres Rd [to Peach Springs and old Rt 66] and the 7-mile dirt road at the end of Pierce Ferry down to the Colorado River. A high clearance vehicle is recommended for those planning some extra exploring or hiking. The Bungalow is located amidst the Arizona Joshua Tree Forest - the largest and densest Joshua Tree forest in the country.
