With the famous Tram 28, many of Lisbon's numerous cafe's and restaurants, and gorgeous view spots just minutes walking from the apartment, everything for a perfect Lisbon holiday is right at your doorstep! The space At 144 years old, this home is a truly unique, traditional, and classic Lisbon family apartment. Located on the 5th floor of a historic (elevatored) building, you will enjoy a spacious and charming holiday home with old fashioned layout, high ceilings, traditional decorative woodwork, and lovely decor. Lisbon is the city of seven hills and fortunately this home is located at the top of one of them. From the long riverfront balcony off the living room guests will have a wonderful view of historic roof tops and the River Tejo view with ferries, ships & boats of all kinds passing by hourly as well as the famous Cristo Rey Statue and April 25th Bridge, a true highlight of staying in this apartment. The balcony is complete with tables and chair for enjoying wine, cheese, coffee, and the famous local pastries while you take in the sights, sounds, sunrises & sunsets of Lisbon. The home also has an additional outdoor space off the kitchen with a BBQ grill built into it. Enjoy grilling your own fresh meat and fish from the Mercado de Ribeira located just down the hill on the riverfront. The kitchen is modern and has every convenience. High Speed WIFI is available throughout the apartment and in addition to the living room, dining room, three bedrooms and two bathrooms, there's also a TV room with sofa which converts into a Queen size bed if you have a larger group. Summer time guests should know the space is only PARTIALLY air-conditioned but stays naturally cool and breezy during warmer months due to ocean and river breezes coming up the hill and off the river (see photo descriptions for air-conditioned spaces). Another highlight for easy sightseeing is the fact that both the famous Electrico #28 (trolley/tram) and the Ascensor da Bica (funicular) pass by the building, all you have to do is walk out the front door to enjoy a ride on them. The Metro and the Chiado, Principe Real, and Biaxa shopping districts are a 5 - 8 minute walk. Several Miradouro's (famous view points of Lisbon) are in very close proximity as well as a myriad of famous roof top bars as well as some of the most famous restaurants in Lisbon...dinner at Rocco anyone...it's a lovely walk there through Chiado and past the Opera House (Teatro Nacional Sao Joao). Do you want to see Lisbon from the Castelo Sao Jorge and Alfama area, just walk across the street and get on the famous Trolley 28! Couldn't be easier! Guest access Guests will have access to every room in the house which includes, Living room, dining room, TV room/study, 3 bedrooms, kitchen, 2 bathrooms and both outdoor spaces (river front balcony & small balcony/fire escape off of kitchen). Guests will also have access to the building elevator, trash room on ground floor, and fire extinguishers in the kitchen. Other things to note At this time our apartment is not suitable for families with children under the age of 12 years old. We do not provide any equipment for babies like a high-chair or pack-n-plays. Due to the age of the building young children crying or running around the apartment can be very disturbing to the immediate neighbors of the apartment and they have requested we do not host very young children as vacationing families have very different schedules to those living regular daily life. There are two public parking garages located off our street Calcada do Combro. The nearest, Parque Polivalente de Santa Catarina (Calcada do Combro 82) is just down the hill 150 meters from the building. It is very reasonably priced at 15 Euros per 24 hours. The other, Empark Aparcamientos y Servicios, S.A. is located on Praça Luis de Camões 350 meters from the building. It is important for guests considering our apartment to note that the building is RESIDENTIAL. The rest of the residents have families, have to go to work/school during the week, and expect anyone staying in the building to be respectful especially with their noise levels. If you are looking to spend a holiday late night drinking/socializing, loud music playing, and coming and going at all hours, you may want to consider a different property. If you will have young children with you, it’s important to make sure they don’t spend their time running up and down the long hallway. It’s very tempting for kids, we know from raising a child in the apartment, but necessary so the below neighbors are not disturbed.
