Description

Located about an hour from Portland at Mount Hood’s base, Zigzag Mountain Farm offers 50 acres of meadows and forest, bordering a national forest. Camp in your own tent, van, or camper; stay in one of eight yurts, a rent-a-tent, the original two-bedroom homestead cabin, or our tiny house. The farm has an organic garden, communal campfire circle, picnic areas, a campers’ kitchen in a converted city bus, outdoor seating with BBQs, a kids’ play structure, hiking trails, and a year-round creek. The space Our two-story restored historic cabin was built by the original homesteaders in 1909. It’s a large, rustic, and comfortable space with two bedrooms, a private bath (tub/shower, sink, and toilet), a large living room with a wood stove and hide-a-bed, a fully equipped kitchen, and a wrap-around porch by the creek. The cabin comes with linens, towels, a heating system, and wifi. An additional common bathroom, attached to the cabin but with its own outside entrance, is available and shared with campers. Guest access OUTDOORS: Enjoy our 50 acres of forests and meadows, a year-round creek, and a one-mile hiking trail loop right on the property. We’re also close to many other beautiful hiking trails in the area. CAMPFIRE POLICY: We have one big communal campfire pit near the Red House and provide firewood. For fire safety, individual fire pits are not allowed on the meadows or in the forest. During fire bans, we use a propane fire pit. Propane campfire rings are available to rent. S'mores kits with marshmallow, chocolate, and graham crackers are available for sale. Other things to note DOG POLICY: Dogs are welcome! Please keep them on a leash at all times and out of the playground and food preparation areas. Dogs must not be left unattended in yurts, the tiny house, the cabin, or our rent-a-tents. They should always be supervised, stay out of restricted areas, and be cleaned up after. Pet fees are $5/day per pet in your tent or van, and $10/day per pet in yurts, rent-a-tents, the tiny house, or the cabin. Please remember we’re not responsible for any lost or stolen personal belongings during your stay, and guests are responsible for any excessive damage or loss caused to the property. Smoking is allowed only in designated areas, and alcohol can be enjoyed casually. Guests under 18 need to be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or adult group leader. To help everyone relax and enjoy the mountain setting, please keep noise down during quiet hours, and no amplified music or loud parties. We also ask everyone to respect fellow guests, keep shared spaces tidy, and drive slowly (5–10 mph) on E. Mountain Drive and on our property. Please remember to wash your dishes before you leave. Thank you!
