Description
Abuelo Camp is a small group camp site located along the hike to the Reservoir with a huge old oak tree. You'll love being a 2 minute walk to the Reservoir for sunrise, sunset, and star gazing. Large families and small groups choose this camp site with space for 3 to 4 tents on flat grass or dirt. The space The site is located under a huge oak tree covered in Usnea hirta (also known as OId Man's Beard or Spanish Moss), a stringy type of lichen. We named this site Abuelo (which is Spanish for grandfather) after the two names for the plant. It features a picnic table and flat, grassy ground to pitch your tent on. We do recommend bringing your own shade, because the tree alone may not be enough.
