Moss Cottage is a vintage rustic cottage surrounded by woods and meadows . A separate 500 sq ft ADU called, The Saloon, is also available at an additional charge. Moss Cottage is located on a busy rural road that connects Troutman to Interstate 77, and it is not walkable. The closest walking trails are in Troutman or Lake Norman State Park. The location near Exit 45 Interstate 77 makes It is an easy commute to Mooresville and metro Charlotte area. The downstairs has two queen bedrooms, a seated shower bath, a rustic modern kitchen with exposed ceiling timber, stainless Samsung appliances, modern cabinets with Caesarstone counter tops, a vintage wine bar, dining room, a separate living room with gas fire logs, a tv room with 65" SONY and high speed internet. The upstairs has two rooms, one with an office/parlor and the other with a child’s twin bed. There is a screened back deck facing east with room for outside dining, birdwatching, happy hour, or watching the sunrise or moon rise through the woods. The Saloon is located behind the house and can be included at an additional price of $25 a night. The Saloon includes a laundry, bathroom, kitchenette/ living room, and a loft. The Saloon photos are labeled separately from Moss Cottage. Contact host if you wish to book both Moss Cottage and The Saloon at the same time, depending on availability. Guests can enjoy a natural setting among old growth oak trees and diverse wildlife. The back porch faces east with a nice view of the sunrise and the moonrise through the woods. It is a pleasant place to have morning coffee and watch the birds and chipmunks. Guests are welcome to pick any of the herbs or vegetables in the raised back yard gardens during the season. The Host has a property manager who will arrange for your key at check in. Moss Cottage is on Murdock family property that dates back to a Colonial Grant in 1764. The original farm extended from Troutman to where Interstate 77 and Amity Hill Rd intersect now, hence the name “Murdock Rd”, which travels through the land last farmed by Joyce's great grandfather Albert Alexander Murdock, Esq. Moss Cottage was built by Joyce's father as a starter home for his young family in 1950, with oak timber cut on the property and a sawmill at the site. Joyce hopes to preserve some of her family history with organic gardening and permaculture that was practiced by her grandparents and great grandparents for generations.. ICATS (Iredell County Area Transit). UBER Watch for the Peregrine Falcons that fly over occassionally. The NC Raptor Center near Huntersville releases them into this area periodically. Wildlife you might see includes, assorted songbirds, quail, squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons, wild turkeys, owls, deer, & sometimes you might hear coyotes howling at night.
