Description

About 90 m2 apartment, in the heart of Copenhagen's famous Nyhavn. 100 m. from the main shopping street, 5 min. from the nearest metro. Apartment is within a modernised historic building, with a quiet courtyard. The place has a sense of generosity, it is loft-like and light-filled, it combines historic elements with contemporary Scandic design. The bonus of the apartment is all day sunny shared rooftop terrace overlooking the city's rooftops, a quiet hide-out in the middle of the buzzing centre. The space There is an overall sense of spaciousness in this home, with a welcoming entrance area and the large living spaces, with open plan kitchen and dining areas, at the core of the apartment. It carefully incorporates original historic features, such as the exposed timber beam elements, with its modern aesthetics of timber floors, white walls and skylights. All of the rooms are furnished primarily with contemporary mid-century Danish furniture, with a multitude of books, objects and artworks. The ‘artistic touch’ adds another dimension to the home, which makes it personal and full of character, as do details such as the marble top surfaces, brass taps and chequered ceramic tile patterns which reappear in both the kitchen and bathroom. The bedrooms are situated on either side of the central living area; they are comfortable, airy and yet intimate spaces. Master double bedroom consists of double bed (180cm), windows on two sides of the room, carefully selected antique cupboards, providing storage for clothes, etc. Second bedroom has small double bed (120cm), antique cupboards, providing storage for clothes and working table. The bathroom has a marble top surface with a built in sink and a matching full length mirror, with brass fittings for the taps and shower head; it also has underfloor heating, a towel heater and a washing machine. The marble top kitchen incorporates a deep ceramic sink, a ‘serious’ gas hob for cooking and a large, free standing, bright red fridge/freezer. It is a pleasure to prepare a meal here, as the kitchen (which, of course, is fully equipped) functions perfectly as a social gathering space. The adjacent dining table is likewise a joy to sit around and share meals and conversations, while enjoying the spaciousness of the surrounding living space. It is a very ‘hyggelig’ (cosy) place, where everyone enjoys gathering together, talking, or watching a film together on Samsung Serif TV 49", with numerous channels including access to Netflix, HBO, Rakuten, Youtube, V Player, etc. Main staircase leads directly onto the extensive rooftop terrace. This generous terrace stretches the entire length of the building, providing a unique place which, feels like an extension of the apartment itself, overlooking the courtyard and romantic rooftops of Copenhagen. The rooftop terrace is entirely clad in timber boards, with built in benches, with nooks and crannies for reading, with plenty of colourful potted plants, and with wonderful views all around. Accessible only to the apartments within this building, this shared exterior space is a rare find, and a perfect place for shared outdoor meals, for enjoying a morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of wine, and for simply enjoying the special atmosphere of this part of Copenhagen. Other things to note - For your convenience if you have an early arrival or late departure, there is a potential to leave the bags earlier or later, or even to enter the flat at different times than stated, but this needs to be requested while booking. - The space is primarily set for us, there are few of our books, etc. which gives the space more personalise look, but we make sure to empty cupboards and remove other belongings, so the guests could feel this is their home. - Even though the apartment is very centrally positioned in the city, it is situated in a quiet area, especially as it is around an internal courtyard. Even from the roof terrace, one cannot hear any sound of traffic, only birds...There are, however, some offices on the other side of the courtyard, which means that during working hours (9am-5pm), employees are going in and out, but they are generally very quiet. One of the companies occasionally receives deliveries (with trolleys) where the sound of trolleys rolling on the ground could be heard. It is generally unusually quiet for the center of the city and even during the weekends, and after 5pm on weekdays, it is entirely peaceful.
