Our charming 2 bedroom log cabin offers fantastic views over the hudson valley & stylish country living which will instantly bring you relaxation. you can be in the center of town in 5 minutes or never leave your little retreat. Because of our steep and remote location, 4 wheel drive is a must to get to our cabin in Case of snow and ice in the winter. Our view is pretty spectacular and the house is on a private road, on mead mountain overlooking Woodstock and the Hudson Valley. We have owned and enjoyed this cabin for over 20 years and absolutely adore it. That being said part of the charm is that it is rustic and a bit dated, not furnished with state of the art furniture and technology. There are 2 bedrooms on 2 levels and it sleeps up to 4 guests. There are no doors on the bedrooms. one bedroom is downstairs, accessible through a little spiral stair case connected with a bathroom. the ground floor has entrance, kitchen, living/dining area, bedroom. The cabin is compact and somewhat small for 4, if you are used to big spaces. There is not a lot of privacy, in case you plan to come with 2 couples, since there are no doors besides the bathroom. We don’t allow pets in general (we are surrounded by wildlife, for liability reasons) but might make an exception. There is a small TV in the downstairs bedroom and you can watch movies on a projector screen with the Amazon remote. Since we use the cabin ourselves, there should be everything you need. I am a chef, so you will find plenty of equipment and condiments. All linens are stocked and available. My husband is a guitar player and there is always an instrument hanging on the wall, ready to be picked up. We will not be staying with you but be available 24/7 on email or phone for any questions or concerns you might have. We have friends that will be coming if necessary. Our house sits on Mead Mountain, the top is Overlook Mountain (a hike with fantastic views into 4 states). it is very private off the main road with beautiful nature surrounding you. Deer and turkey walk by daily and we also see an occasional bear and raccoons towards the evening. humming birds and butterflies come on our terrace. it is our little paradise, just 5 minutes away from town center. there is no convenient public transport. you should drive with a car. the drive to town is 5 minutes, the walk about 45 minutes. You should bring bikes if you have any. they can also be rented in town. The cabin is situated in the forest. There are 2 neighbor houses but you have total privacy. It is important not to leave food outside, because of the rich wildlife around us.
