The location of our house is the ideal starting point for visits to the city of Bern, whether for business or leisure. The Emmental begins right behind the house and attracts with its hilly green landscapes. Thanks to the nearby highway connection, you can reach various well-known destinations in Switzerland by car in less than an hour, such as the Bernese Oberland and Interlaken, the 3-lake region, the Jura, Lucerne and Gruyère as well as Lake Geneva. The space Our house is located in a quiet neighborhood in a small village in the Bern region. The apartment on the upper floor offers a spacious layout, lots of privacy and fantastic distant views. The location is the ideal starting point for visits to the city of Bern or the nearby Emmental. The Bernese Oberland and the three-lake region can also be reached quickly thanks to the nearby highway connection. The apartment "Casita AraToko" is on the 2nd floor and can be reached via a staircase. It has a large bedroom (bed 1.40 x 2.00 m), bathroom with shower/bathtub, a living room and a completely new kitchen (2021) with dining area. The kitchen has a fridge with freezer compartment, electric stove and oven, dishwasher, kettle and a coffee maker with environmentally friendly, refillable capsules. We provide the coffee beans and coffee grinder. If this is too much effort: The coffee machine is compatible with Nespresso coffee capsules. Salt, pepper, sugar, tea, vinegar and oil are available. As big travel fans with a flair for southern Africa and Central America, we were inspired by the typical birds there, the macaw and the tokay, for the name and the decor. The bedroom is decorated in a soothing green shade of the jungle, while the living room is decorated in the colors of the African savannah. From the large balcony you can enjoy the fantastic distant view to the Jura. The forest is 2 minutes away and invites you to take relaxing walks. Kites often circle above the house. A garden seating area under the apple and pear tree is available for joint use in the warm season. The garden is designed to be "wild" and biodiversity-friendly, providing a habitat for many native small animals and insects. Our 2 cats live with us in the house, who like it quiet and like to be petted with mutual sympathy. Guest access Access to the apartment on the upper floor is via the shared staircase. There is a 3rd room in the apartment. room, which is locked and used by me as an office when the apartment is not occupied. If necessary, our laundry room with a washing machine and dryer is available to guests in the basement. We and our 2 cats live in the apartment on the first floor. There is a free parking space for guests in front of the house. Charging stations for electric vehicles are available nearby (Shoppyland Schönbühl). Public transport: The bus takes you to the nearest train station in Schönbühl. There is a connection to Bern and Solothurn. There are various signposted cycling routes in the surrounding area. Other things to note The apartment has no air conditioning and it can get quite warm in summer if appropriate precautions are not taken (ventilate early in the morning and close the blinds early). We ask for a message before arrival if the fireplace is to be used so that we can organize firewood. An additional fee of CHF 20.00 (cash payment) is due for the wood and the additional cleaning effort. In summer, a frog concert is possible. The highway is visible and, depending on the wind, can also be heard outside.
