A cosy, sustainable, boutique, luxury motel nestled along the iconic Gold Coast Highway. Our former self, the ‘Palm Trees Motel’, has been artfully restored and refurbished by our new parents, local husband-and-wife-duo Eliza and Jason. Our Tinder profile would say, ‘A seven-room oasis with serious aesthetic appeal, passive design and self-service check in. Think Slim Aarons meets the future, without a Meter Maid in sight.’ Located in burgeoning Palm Beach, and eschewing passé elements of the original building while maintaining a quintessential motel vibe, our renovation features retro design cues with nods to modern wellness. A quick stroll down the road and you will find long stretches of white sand beaches, turquoise waters and world famous surf breaks. Roll right out of bed and into a local espresso, then straight to the waves within a minute’s wander. Finish off your Goldy day with a relaxing afternoon by our palm fringed magnesium pool. Pour a Martini, kick your feet up, stay cosy with us. SUSTAINABILITY We’ve been lovingly restoring The Mysa Motel using recycled local items from pre-existing properties on the Gold Coast. Our carport and three courtyards feature recycled vintage breeze blocks, and our carport roof is made from recycled hardwood salvaged from the original on-site Palm Trees Motel. Where possible, our parents found vintage design pieces like the breeze blocks, glass mosaic for the bathrooms, and pool lounge recliners from local building sites and had them restored. Up-cycling was at the fore of what we wanted to do here at Mysa, and how we wanted to reinvent ourselves as an icon, with as minimal impact as possible. Self sufficiency is one of our key pillars in being a strong, independent Motel, so rainwater tanks are the life source for our toilets and gardens, and we are solar powered to within an inch of our life – with the odd moment of power from the grid at night. The rooms have filtered water so you can fill your water bottles and ditch the pesky plastic.
