Northern Door County is a favorite destination for kayaking, fishing, hiking, cycling and swimming with it's many parks beaches and hiking and biking trails. The excursion boat to Washington Island, Charlies fresh and smoked fish, The popular Shoreline restaurant, and the Door County Maritime Museum are among the things that make Gills Rock a special place to stay. We are just a short drive from the rugged, unspoiled beauty of Newport State Park, a semi-wilderness area offering hiking, swimming, and nature activities. The many performances, restaurants, galleries and shops throughout Door County are also easily accessible. While staying with us you take one of the regular fishing charters that leave the village daily or enjoy a crossing on an excursion boat across the beauty of Death’s Door Passage to Washington Island, the oldest Icelandic settlement in North America.
