Description

A modern-elegant 1000 sq ft guest suite, a few minute walk from a gorgeous, 26 acre park and all the restaurants, bars and shopping you could want. The space is complete with a private guest bedroom with luxury, organic bedding, private bath with locally-made products, a fully loaded kitchenette, an 8-seat dining table, a 100" screen with access to every streaming service, lightning-fast wifi, and even a baby-grand piano! Perfect for couples, business travelers or families. The space Completely renovated in 2018, The Oak Street Suite is a stunning, 1000 sq. ft space that is spacious and warm - perfect for couples, business travelers and families alike. As world-travelers ourselves, who have stayed at over 50 Airbnbs in the past nine years, we know what elevates a stay from mediocre to perfection, and we have included all of those elements in this suite. We love Portland and the Pacific Northwest with all our hearts, and want to highlight it every way we can - from Portland roasted artisanal coffee, to Olympia, Washington made soaps and body products, to an eco-friendly mattress, we want you to love our little city as much as we do. IMPORTANT: Please note that while the lower level suite is private, we live upstairs with our two young children, so you can hear footsteps and sounds, particularly between 7am and 7pm. We do our best to make your stay as quiet and peaceful as possible, and provide speakers, a sound machine, and ear plugs, but if absolute silence is a necessity, we would recommend finding a different place to stay. GENERAL: The apartment has it's own entrance, bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette, living area, and dining area. SLEEP: If you're seeking a dreamy night's sleep, you've found it. We have supplied our guest room with a custom-made, Organic latex mattress made by Portland-based Mulligan Mattresses. We've topped the bed with organic cotton bedding and a choice of pillows, from soft to firm, for your preference. In addition, the living-room couch converts to an exceptionally comfortable queen size bed, complete with organic bedding and cloud-like pillow-top to make sure you have the most peaceful night. Alternatively, we can provide a lovely, comfortable floor mattress to sleep 2 additional people. BATHROOM: The suite has a private bathroom with a shower, and comes stocked with locally made soaps and bath products, and luxurious Onsen towels. KITCHENETTE: We both cook and travel frequently with our children, so we know how important it is to have a place to easily and comfortably prepare meals and snacks. We have stocked the kitchenette with a full-sized fridge, a toaster oven, a microwave, a coffee maker, an electric kettle, and all the kitchen utensils you could desire. We also can supply an induction cooktop and pan upon request. We additionally provide locally roasted Happy Cup or Central City Concern coffee, a selection of locally blended Smith tea, and other treats for your delight. DINING/WORKING: For sitting, dining and working, we have a locally hand-made 8-seat Douglas fir dining table. If you are traveling for work, we also can set up a spare computer monitor for you; just let us know and we'll arrange it. We have super-fast wifi available for any work needs. LIVING: While we hope you'll use the suite as a launching off point to explore our amazing city, we want you to feel relaxed and comfortable when you want to put your feet up. The suite has an 8-foot couch, perfect for curling up on with one of our many books from the suite's library. Want to watch something instead? We have a 100" screen with a projector that has access via Roku to every streaming service you could want - just BYO account. Enjoy games? We have lots of board games available for endless entertainment. KIDS: As parents with young children ourselves, we know how hard it can be to travel with small ones. We would love nothing more than to make this part of your trip a breeze. We have a pack-n-play, a high chair, and enough books and toys to keep your kiddos occupied for hours, while you put your feet up with some wine and and flip through a magazine (we can dream, right?). The space is fairly-well childproofed, although we of course ask that you use your judgement and discretion with your children. LAUNDRY: What could be better than going home with a suitcase full of clean clothes? We have an extra-large washer and dryer available for your use. Note: the only shared component of the space is the laundry room. We will always text you to alert you when we need to do laundry, and will do our best to do it during the day or when you're out. MISCELLANY: In the space is Kat's grandmother's 1908 Steinway Baby Grand Piano. Even though it's over 110 years old, it still loves to be played! We just ask that you play gently and do not have food or drinks near the instrument, and please be mindful of your children when they're near the piano. TEMPERATURE: Ideal temperature is so subjective, and above all we want you to be comfortable. As well as central heat and air conditioning, we have three cadet heaters installed to boost the heat to your ideal temperature, as well as fans for the summer. Guest access Guests have access to the entirety of our lower level, with private use, except for the laundry room, which is shared. We will always text to coordinate usage of the laundry room before coming down. Other things to note Ecological and community responsibility is very important to our family. By staying with us, you are actively contributing to improving our environment and our community. Here are some ways your stay here is an ecologically and community-improving one: •When we remodeled, we made as many ecologically friendly choices as we could, including non-VOC paint, windows and doors designed to conserve energy in heating and cooling, and all LED lighting to lower our energy usage. We encourage the use of fans, space heaters, and blankets to add supplemental heating and cooling to conserve energy. •All of our body and soap products are made in an environmentally friendly way. We use Alaffia body products, made less than a hundred miles away in Olympia, Washington. Their products are not only ethically made with fair-trade, non-GMO ingredients, but also support restoration and empowerment programs in different African communities. •We focus on using Organic and local whenever we can, including our organic cotton sheets, our eco-friendly mattress, coffee, cereal, etc. When there is an option to purchase products that empower our community, we chose them, including supplying Happy Cup or Central City Coffee, both of which fund programs to help homeless people have fair-wage jobs. We want to make sure our dollars empower our community. Registration Details 24-018426-000-00-HO
