Description

Enjoy this house with 1/3 acre private property close to the UO, running trails, downtown, hiking, and many shops and restaurants within walking distance. My cozy two-bedroom, one-bath home features new furnishings with hand-crafted furniture, a wood stove, enclosed sun porch, desk for working and large backyard deck with fire pit. This home is ideal for a couple or family of four. Distance to UO – 1.5 miles Distance to Autzen Stadium – 3.8 miles Distance to downtown – 2.4 miles The space When the weather turns cool, cuddle up on the sofa and watch your own Netflix, Amazon or Hulu accounts or the stations provided by Roku while a fire roars in the wood stove (firewood provided), or enjoy breakfast on the enclosed south-facing sun porch. In the warmer months, take advantage of the huge, private backyard for family dinners or games on the lawn (games provided), surrounded by flowers and trees. There is a propane fire pit on the deck, as well as multiple solar lights around the deck, to extend the evening. Harvest grapes, figs, plums and huckleberries in season. Read a book in the hammock under the grape arbor. This is a peaceful retreat where you can relax while having easy access to all Eugene has to offer. Please note that this is a small house (just under 800 sq feet), and the bathroom is very small, but it is well appointed and cozy! The kitchen is well stocked for almost all cooking needs - lots of pots and pans, baking dishes, serving bowls and kitchen utensils. Filters are provided for the coffee maker as well as salt, pepper, oil, tea, and a few spices and condiments. There is electric heat in every room. There is one small air conditioner in the living room that I put out during hot weather (most days out of the year it is not needed). In addition, there are several fans, an air cooler in the living room, and personal air coolers in the main bedroom. I also have a Hepa filter that you can use in any room. The main bedroom has a queen-size bed with a firm mattress. The second bedroom has a bunk bed with two singles. These are ideal for kids but can also work for adults. It depends on your comfort level and needs! The house is filled with original art by Pacific-Northwest and Latin-American artists. When you come here, you can expect a total Eugene vibe: a well-cared -for property with a few rustic and quirky edges as it is an older home. This is not a five-star property with a full-time staff (I do most of the maintenance myself, with occasional help). If you are looking for a luxury property, my place probably isn’t a good fit for you! Instead, you will get to experience local living created by a home owner who cares about providing a quality, comfortable, and authentic experience that reflects the neighborhood. My goal is to create a Eugene-style home away from home for my guests! There is a supermarket a one-minute walk from the house. Multiple shops, restaurants, and parks/trails are within a 5-10-minute walk from the house. The closest bus stop is also a one-minute walk from the house. I am happy to provide you with bus information. If you are planning to go to the UO, there is a direct bus that takes less than 10 minutes. It is very convenient given the complexities of trying to find parking on campus. Accessibility: The house is all on one level. There are three steps up the front porch to the front door. There is one step down to the back deck. Please note that the queen-size bed is on a higher-than-normal frame, so it may not be suitable for those with mobility limitations. Pets: This is a strict no-pet space because I have many guests who are highly allergic. If you have extreme allergies to animals, please know that there are many cats in the neighborhood, and they like to congregate in my front and backyard. This is beyond my control. As an avid Airbnb traveler, I am aware that not every space is a good fit for every potential guest. We all have different needs and expectations. Please read the description of my home and my many reviews to make sure this is the right space for you. If yes, I look forward to hosting you and will do my utmost to provide you a wonderful stay! Note that I have a “moderate” cancellation policy. This means you can cancel up to 5 days before your check-in date for a full refund. After that, I cannot provide a refund if you have to cancel at the last minute for any reason. I highly recommend buying travel insurance, which covers the cost of your stay for delayed or canceled flights. I always buy this myself when I am traveling because air travel can be very unpredictable these days! NOTE: I often block out dates for cleaning and maintenance purposes. If you are interested in a longer stay, please send me a request even if your preferred dates are not available. I’m happy to open up blocked dates if they are not already booked. Guest access You have access to the entire home and yard. There are two supermarkets and several other shops and restaurants within walking distance. The driveway is large and can easily accommodate two cars. There is also free parking on the street if you have friends or family visit. You are welcome to park your bike inside the gated, locked backyard (gate key is in the house). On occasion, I have a pile of wood chips at the far end of the driveway. This is my annual spring/summer project to keep the garden beds and paths looking good. Other things to note Air conditioning in the house is limited as it is rarely needed. There is one portable air conditioner in the living room that I put out in the summer. There are also several fans, an air cooler for the living room, and personal air coolers in the master bedroom. The skylight in the living room opens to allow hot air to escape and bring in cool night air. There are two small sheds on the property that I use to store tools and supplies. These are off limits to guests. I am working on reforesting the very back of the property after losing several trees due to storms. This is definitely a “wild” zone right now. I have it cordoned off to avoid guest injury. However, the backyard is so large that you will have plenty of space to enjoy yourself without venturing into this area! I keep the lawn mowed on a regular basis. However, please note that I am unable to mow during rainy weather. Also, due to drought conditions in Oregon, I don’t water the lawn in the summer as a way to conserve water. I do keep the shrubs, trees, and flowers watered, so there is always plenty of green around!
