Less is more--quiet room in private older home, antique full-size brass bed, pillow top mattress, access to kitchen, bath with large tub and shower, living room and cable TV, wireless internet, not fancy but safe, quiet, and clean--living room couch space for 3rd guest or very small extra bedroom space available for small children to sleep or play; 20 minutes south of Duluth, easy access to Hwy. 35. Close to Jay Cooke State, water, bike trails. 37 miles to Sax Zim Bog. Guests have access to living room, private bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, front porch space. Decorative items in the home are not of the "designer type," and mostly commemorate signifcant family people, memories or places. There is room on the porch for storage of bikes or hunting/fishing equipment, and the smaller bedroom features a working 1960's Craftomatic style massage bed. There's also a well worn piano for use by guests, on the front porch, and a glider swing in front yard. The neighborhood is safe to walk around in at night. The bathroom’s oversized enclosed tub has a shower with pebble tile surround. Kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, coffee pot, stove, oven, microwave, pizza oven and whatever goodies are in the frig, including coffee and creamer. Parking on the street in front of the house during spring, summer and fall, shoveled space on sidewalk in the winter. I (owner of the home) live on the second floor of the home, with separate kitchen, bath and living space. I enter and leave through the back door of the home; front access is dedicated to guests only. I don't typically interact a lot but always respond to questions or needs for assistance. I'm happy to help provide information about local points of interest, dining, recreation and services. This is a quiet residential neighborhood which was destroyed in the fires of 1918, and rebuilt during the early 1920's. The two-story home relative to this listing was built in 1920, and has five bedrooms and two baths. At the back of this property there is a small historical structure called a "Red Cross House." After the fires of 1918, the Red Cross put up many very small temporary houses for people to live in until their larger homes could be rebuilt. The "little red house" behind the main house on this property is one of about 300 which still stand in Cloquet today. There is taxi service and a transit bus; home is within walking distance of public library, parks, schools and grocery/convenience stores and many other businesses. Jay Cooke State Park is ten minutes away and has bike trails through great natural woods and water areas. The Black Bear Casino is also ten minutes away and along with gaming, features live music on weekends and some of the finest dining in the area. Duluth is 18 miles east, a quick trip on the freeway, and offers many interesting things to do. A lot of people have found the Comfy House to be convenient when their destination is Duluth, and enjoy the features of a smaller town for lodging. This home is close to many tourist attractions including Bentleyville in Duluth (20 miles) and Jay Cooke State Park in Carlton (6 miles). Black Bear Casino is about ten minutes away as well.
