The courtyard has a rainwater collection chamber known as “tanka" and a water station with earthen pots called "Paniyara" , a quintessential feature of Gujarati homes. Moving to 1st floor , the dining table area, you’ll find a cozy space where you can enjoy freshly prepared meals made with ingredients sourced from the local markets. One of the highlights of the French Haveli is undoubtedly the illuminated chowk, or central courtyard. The stone floor, cool to the touch, draws its refreshing feel from the underground tanka, designed to store rainwater for the hot Ahmedabad summer months.
