Syke Barn, quiet location in the Lake District
Description
Syke Barn is a self catering annexe joined to Syke Cottage, a traditional Lakeland long house. The annexe was originally the barn. Situated between Coniston and Windermere, this is an ideal base for families, walkers, nature lovers, climbers and cyclists. The annex sleeps 2, the main bedroom has a king size bed and en-suite shower, the second bedroom has 2 single beds. There is a family bathroom, modern kitchen with dining area and living room with wood burning stove. Designated parking area. The space In addition to the ground floor cosy living room, on the second floor there is a wonderful gallery area with beamed ceiling for relaxation, games and a second internet connected TV. Outside there is raised decking with seating which overlooks the valley which is accessible through french doors from the living room. In addition a patio area with table and chairs along with a lockable bike store for those guests wishing to bring their own cycles. The annexe benefits from an eco-friendly Air Source Heat Pump which provides hot water and under-floor heating, making the return back after a long winters hike all the more pleasurable. Please note, whilst there is a spacious fridge in the kitchen there is not a freezer at Syke Barn. Guest access Access to the barn is at the rear of the property, up a grassy slope to the right hand side of the building. Adjacent to the entrance door there is a key lock, the code will be supplied. Other things to note 1. The barn has a private water supply which is filtered through a three stage system. For those guests who may prefer to drink bottled water we leave you a starter bottle (two litre) in the kitchen. 2. There is dedicated parking for one vehicle, guests wishing to bring a second vehicle please let us know. We can not accommodate more than two vehicles under any circumstances. Vehicles and their contents are parked entirely at your own risk. 3. The only mobile telephone reception at the barn is EE or BT. 4. The Wifi provided is free, due to our rural location is relatively slow compared to towns and cities and may be subject to interruptions. 4. The dryer listed is an electric heated clothes horse. 6. One basket of logs, kindling and firelighters are supplied for the woodburning fire (usually enough for one or two nights), further baskets can be purchased from the owner (if available), or of course you may bring your own. Due to the capacity of the fire smaller logs are best suited.
