The space We have recently converted the second story of this iconic Art Deco building into four luxury apartments with décor sympathetic to the era. The building was rebuilt after the 1931 earthquake which devastated the city and was a working fire station until the 1960s. With new enhanced cleaning rotines we are taking extra care to disinfect frequently touched surfaces between guest reservations. We have also increased our between stay gap to 2 days to allow for thorough cleaning of the apartments. The “Natusch” apartment enjoys lots of morning sun, beautifully cool in the heat of summer and is always warm and inviting with a great heat pump in winter. Fully furnished with a casual feel , yet with the benefits of modern facilities, it boasts a brand new full-sized kitchen with quality appliances, and, a generous fully tiled bathroom with underfloor heating. Two bedrooms with lovely new King size beds, high quality cotton linen, cotton blankets in summer and electric blankets in winter for your comfort. Separate laundry with washing machine & drier included at no extra cost. The "Central Fire Station Bistro" voted by Cusine magazine as "Regional Resturant NZ of the Year 2024" and awarded 2 x hats, operates on the ground floor of the building and provides an excellent causual dining experiance. Housed in the original engine garage with veiws to the gardens across the road, enjoy some of Hawkes Bays best wines and local produce prepared by award winning chef Sam Clark and his team. You will have access to a seperate laundry with free washing machine, detergent and dryer that if for your use only - you do not have to share this with other guests. Other things to note The apartment is on the first floor of the building and there are approx 22 stairs, they are nice and wide and have good hand rails. If you are bringing bikes we have secure room to store them in the main entrance foyer for you. Each apartment has its own FREE off street carpark included, extra car parking is subject to availability, please contact host at time of booking. Please note for Long Stays - 2 weeks or more, we provide a weekly service clean. This ensures your will have a pleasant stay with freash linen and a clean apartment for the duration of your stay. We will arrange a suitable day and time on arrival.
