Spacious and comfortable, this home is located on a quiet, residential street on the border of Long Island City and Astoria, one of the most vibrant and multi-cultural neighborhoods in all of New York City. Best of all, the M/R subway is only one short block away and only four stops to Manhattan. This is an original farmhouse, the first house on the block, built in the 1700's and moved to its' current location in the 1920's.. Your apartment is the entire second floor with its' own private entry. This apartment is unique. The space is a crisp, light-filled, open plan with plenty of room to relax after an adventurous day out in the city. The sleeping loft is high above that overlooks the kitchen and living area. The bedroom is private. There are windows in both of the sleeping areas with newly installed carpet. We used low VOC paint for the walls and ceiling. The kitchen has four barstools with a storage bench in the kitchen area stocked with kitchen paper, toilet tissue. **The fireplace is not a working fireplace.** The wood floors are original; some creaky; the beamed cathedral ceilings are high, there are windows on every wall. The kitchen has plenty of counter space with an island. Appliances include a toaster, microwave, dishwasher, electric stove and refrigerator. This apartment is not perfect but is full of character. The kitchen has the essentials: coffee maker, pots and pans, plates, utensils, etc. The full bathroom is stocked with plush bath, face and hand towels, iron and hair dryer, and tissue for your tooshie. There is a private bedroom and a sleeping loft. Each bed is a queen size Sealy Posturepedic mattress with extra warm down comforters. Our home is equipped with a security system and outside cameras for your safety. While we have never had a problem as long as we have lived here, the exterior cameras give us (and you) peace of mind. Disclaimer: The loft has a short ladder with railing leading up to the sleeping area. As a guest, you release all liability against the owners should you fall off the ladder or out of the loft. This is nearly impossible to do unless you are going up and down carelessly or decide to look over the wall in an irresponsible and wreckless manner. The house is old and not perfect. Occasionally, there will be quirks. Guests often do not tell me when something is out of order that appears to be normal to the naked eye, so you might stumble upon on a leftover necklace, a tangled window blind, etc. However, you can rest assured that I will be take care of most everything within a 48 hour period. Long Island City is the one of the most diverse areas of NYC. Here, you will find this special area to be conveniently located to many shops, boutiques, markets, restaurants, cafes, bars, beer gardens, museums, parks and any other establishment that one needs or wants to have nearby in an urban setting. Many restaurants in Long Island City have been highly rated by the Zagat restaurant guide, recommended in the prestigious Michelin guide and raved about in The New York Times. The Farmhouse is conveniently located one very short block to the underground M/R train (you can see it, but not hear it). The commute is a quick subway ride or drive into the city with Uber and Lyft. If you do not use ridesharing apps, you can call Ecua Car Service at (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). We are so close to midtown that you'll be almost anywhere in minutes. We are a ten minute drive from LaGuardia airport and a 40 minute drive to JFK or a 20 minute subway ride. There is no laundry in the unit but there is a wash and fold laundrette one block away. You can wash your own or have them to do it for you and pick it up the next day. There are cafes, restaurants, shops, pharmacy, all within walking distance of the house. Or you can use apps like Seamless and Grub Hub to order just about any kind of cuisine imaginable.
