Description

You've found our Bungalow Haven in Fort Worth. This cozy, very well-equipped detached ground floor guest house is located virtually on The Texas Christian University campus. It's your home away from home! The City of Fort Worth limits all short term rentals in residential neighborhoods to 30-day or longer stays. We are receptive to long term rentals. A new dedicated internet system was installed on November 1st, 2024, giving guests very fast internet and TV connectivity. The space The Texas Bungalow Haven is a recently remodeled one story guest house within a secure gated property 1/2 block from the TCU campus. Parking for one car is just steps away from the guest house door. The property has been in the same family since 1918, and has been lovingly maintained all along. The main house and guest house are in the classic Craftsman style inside and out. Enjoy the warm ambience of the Arts and Crafts era with every modern convenience including a full gourmet kitchen, washer and dryer, central heat and air conditioning, two ceiling fans, high speed WiFi and a great cable TV entertainment center. Original art decorates every room in the house, and some is available for purchase. The main bed is a Queen Size located in a private bedroom. There is a great walk-in closet with plenty of space for hanging clothes. A chest of drawers is handy for longer stays. In the living area there is a futon which makes into a full-size bed. Also available is a memory foam cot comfortable for an adult or child. FOR FAMILIES WITH SMALL CHILDREN: We can also offer a nice little toddler-size cot for small children. We also have available: a Pack n Play, and a Chicco highchair. We are happy to be family-friendly, and will work with families to accommodate your needs. Guest access Guests enjoy privacy and full access 24 hours a day. Parking, including TCU game days, is convenient and secure. There is a lovely landscaped patio area and a charming outdoor table and chairs right on the front porch. A manually-operated gate can provide extra security. Other things to note Our location is perfect for easy access to the best things Fort Worth has to offer. There are so many attractions and great restaurants that there's not space to include them all. To get a good preview of what to see and do we suggest that you go to your favorite internet map service and research the area according to your interests. Here are a few of our personal favorites you are sure to like: ATTRACTIONS: Texas Christian University TCU football, basketball, baseball, and other sports; music, dance, and theater performance; and gallery exhibitions The historic Stockyards Area - for a taste of the Old Chisholm Trail - including Longhorn cattle drives daily! No more than 20 minutes by car Don't forget a visit to Billy Bob's Texas honkytonk. And stop off at nearby Joe T. Garcia's for classic Tex-Mex! Will Rogers Memorial Center - Home of the Southwestern Exhibition and Livestock show, and Rodeo - in January/February annually. 8 -10 minutes by car, 16 minutes by bus Will Rogers Equestrian Center - featuring National Cutting Horse Association competitions and many more horse shows. 6 minutes by car, 15 minutes by bus Downtown Fort Worth: easily reached by car (about 10 minutes) or by bus (about 20 minutes) - features the ever popular Sundance Square. There's lots to do and see from live music performances to restaurants to suit every taste. Stroll our famous Water Garden, too. And experience a show at The Bass Performance Hall. It's great fun in a very safe city center. The Fort Worth Zoo - Voted one of the county's top zoos. There's plenty for everyone to delight in - kids to grown-ups. Less than one mile away! Trinity Trails - In about 10 minutes reach the access to the extensive Trinity Trails system. Enjoy a lovely walk or a long jog or bike ride at your leisure. We have a citywide bike share station just 3 minutes from us on the TCU campus. Medical - We are just 10 minutes or less from Fort Worth's largest hospital complex, and 15 minutes from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine and the University of North Texas Health Science Center. Historic South Side - Magnolia Avenue - You'll discover many wonderful restaurants where you'll find excellent breakfast, lunch, and dinner of all kinds from independent owners plus live music venues. And don't pass up a visit to the Rahr Brewery, and F&R TX Whiskey Distillery. Further afield: Six Flags Over Texas, Hurricane Harbor Water Park, Globe Life Park - home of the Texas Rangers, and of course AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys (should be the Fort Worth Cowboys since they're in OUR county!) All about 25 minutes or so away if traffic isn't bad. Again, if traffic cooperates, DFW Airport is about 45 minutes away by car. And if you're really determined, you can head for Dallas. Fort Worth is called "Where the West Begins". So that must mean that Dallas is "Where the East Peters Out". But that's another story... RESTAURANT RECOMMENDATIONS: Check out our favorite cafes and restaurants on your favorite internet map service: Within easy walking distance: Park Hill Cafe, Dutch's Hamburgers, Salsa Limon, and Pizza Snob for the BEST pizza around (design your own pizza) A little further, but still in the general area: Hoffbrau Steak House, Silver Fox Steak House (more upscale), Tommy's (great burgers), Blue Mesa Grill (unique Southwestern/Mexican), Carshon's Delicatessen (excellent since 1928!), Swiss Pastry Shop (Black Forest Cake), Bird Cafe (downtown Fort Worth A+), St Emilion (Our very favorite French restaurant - Ranked #1 restaurant for food in DFW since 2010 by Zagat), Railhead Smokehouse (now THAT'S real Texas barbecue), Café Bella (Italian - a neighborhood restaurant that allows BYOB), Pizza Snob (build your own pizza creation - just down the street), The Black Rooster Bakery (coffee and heavenly pastries), and the newest addition to the neighborhood: Eatzi's, for delicious gourmet quality carry-out food (or dine - in on the terrace or at the bar inside) For a super breakfast: Old South Pancake House (a Fort Worth/TCU institution), Paris Cafe (home cooking simply doesn't cover it), Cafe Brazil (great coffee and a fantastic breakfast menu)
