Cozy Base in Vibrant Family Home (1 or 2 bedrooms)

Enjoy a cozy, private guestroom in the basement of our spacious family home. With plenty of space for 1 or 2 & private bath, you'll have a warm welcome from your hosts & two whole floors separating you from the bedroom of our 10 year-old twin boys. Woohoo! (Please note: We also have a second bedroom with a queen bed that can be added if your party needs it. Cost is 10% less than 1st bedroom, bathroom is shared with 1st bedroom, though not with our family. Please ask in your message!) The space Our beautiful Victorian home was built in 1901, and we lovingly renovated it ourselves over the span of four years. Now, it is a warm and welcoming space, filled with books, art, the smells of cooking, and the laughter of our twin boys. BTW we do follow Airbnb's 5-step enhanced cleaning protocol, and plan to do so even after the pandemic is deemed by most to be fully over. Guest access Guests will have a private bathroom (with shower, washer, and dryer), just down & across the hall from the bedrooms. It is for guests' exclusive use, but we do enter occasionally to do laundry, fyi. And to clean of course! We no longer book our two rooms to separate parties at the same time due to a City of Denver restriction (and now for covid-times). The default booking for this listing is just one room, but if you need the second room please mention that in your email and we can adjust the booking (2nd room is same price as 1st room, less 10%, so if you're adding a room your price will nearly double - please be advised!) We also have a gorgeous kitchen that features a stunning Bluestar stove in cobalt blue. There are 2 ovens, plenty of burners for multiple cooks to work at once, plenty of counter space, and guests are welcome to use all those essential basics like spices and oil and such. We have a front porch with two rocking chairs, a large backyard, and an ample garden in the summer with veggies galore. While teen fiction lives on the shelf in one of the guest rooms, you are also welcome to browse our full library, which is large and classified into sections (what can I say? I was a lit major and my husband's a serious reader. Dictionaries have a whole shelf. There's a Steampunk section. Non-fiction has a whole wall. You get the idea.). During your stay We're a busy family and often on the run, but we're up for conversation if our down time overlaps with yours. But we always respect the privacy of our guests and expect our boys to do the same as much as possible. The kids will not go into guest bedrooms, and their play areas are on the main and upper floors so they rarely go into the basement at all. That part of the house remains a calm and quiet retreat from the bustle of the upper stories. And of course we're very happy to help you navigate the Front Range scene, and tell you all we know of the good restaurants, coffee shops, bars, museums, theatres, parks, gardens, hikes, etc. Other things to note We have a large friendly Siamese cat named Attila the Ton. We make every effort to keep him out of our 2 guest rooms. In the basement, there is a white door at the end of the hall. In the event of an emergency, that door will lead you outside.
