Little House on Strother Run
Nestled between Mount Tom and Double Top Mountain and at the edge of the Shenandoah National Forest, Little House is the perfect starting out and ending point for a peaceful and relaxing stay in the Appalachian Mountains. Little House is located at the edge of our 7 acre property. You'll enjoy the bucolic atmosphere of our farmette which includes use of our shared sitting area on Strother Run. The sitting area is shared with the main house which is rented or used by our family periodically. Little House is at the edge of our 7 acre property. It consists of a living area with kitchenette, a spacious bath with tiled tub/shower combination, and a bedroom with a queen sized bed. The kitchenette has a refrigerator with ice maker, 2-burner hot plate, microwave, toaster oven, crock pot, tea kettle and coffee pot. On the porch there is a glider and two chairs and at the side of the porch there is a gas grill and picnic table. The sitting area across the street on Strother Run is shared with the guests of the main house. It's a great place to wade, fish or just sit and enjoy the sound of the water rushing over the rocks. WiFi is provided, but not guaranteed. We are remote (part of our charm!) and the only internet service we can access is through a satellite. Our service is fairly reliable, but can be affected by the weather and is not strong enough for a successful zoom meeting. You'll have the whole cottage to yourselves. The sitting area across the lane on Strother Run is shared with the guests/owners of the main house. I will be available by phone/text if a guest has questions or concerns. There's something here for everyone to enjoy!!!! Top ranked hiking trails include: Old Rag Mountain Loop, White Oak Canyon and Cedar Run Trail, Dark Hollow Fall and Rose River Trail, Top ranked wineries include: Early Mountain, DuCard, Bald Top Brewery and Copper Fox Distillery in nearby Sperryville Historic locations include: James Madison's Montpelier, President Jefferson's Monticello and the University of Virginia...as well as Civil War historic sites and battlefields! Pets are allowed. However guests are expected to clean up after their pets and to bring their pet's own bedding and towels. If guests are in the Main House, please keep your pet on a leash. No smoking or lighting of candles is allowed on the property. Please do not create a campfire or use the fire pit. This property is in the rural mountains. Our only TV service comes through satellite with Dish service. It has proved reliable for satellite service. Our internet comes through satellite also. It is reasonable reliable but slow. You can browse the internet, check your email but streaming movies, online gaming, or video conferencing is not practical or even doable most of the time. Phone service is best by connecting your cell phone to our Wifi network. We also have a land line connected to the internet.
