Remote eco-retreat overlooking stunning Pwlldu Bay
Remote eco-retreat overlooking stunning Pwlldu Bay
Description
This is a 1 bedroom cabin and is not suitable for children or pets. Vehicular access to this listing is via a farm track with 3/4 of a mile of VERY BUMPY potholes. The first thing visitors notice is “the view”. The Bunkhouse offers a unique perspective on secluded Pwlldu Bay. Atop limestone cliffs, The Bunkhouse is nestled in Wales’ first AONB. Retreat from the bustle of city life, pause and connect with the wild, and relax to the sound of the sea as the Gower coast unfolds before you. The space The Bunkhouse is a self-contained property within a wild garden, that's located within the grounds of a 7-acre smallholding, Cliff Acre. The property was originally a stable block and has been renovated into a modern, environmentally-conscious dwelling, powered by green energy. Thoroughly insulated to retain heat in the winter, it features eco-electric radiators, underfloor bathroom heating and thermally efficient windows. Cliff Acre is committed to living as eco-friendly as possible. The soaps, detergents, tea and coffee are all refillable and supplied by the local village shop 'Pennard Stores'. The bathroom has a wet room shower. There is also an outdoor shower for swimmers to wash wetsuits, or walkers to rinse muddy boots. The Bunkhouse is one of the best places to be during stormy weather. A panoramic window looks out over the magnificent Gower coast. Let the drama unfold with a glass of wine, watch the waves crash and the rainbows appear. The space is ideal for walkers, nature lovers, birdwatchers, writers, artists, anyone looking to be quiet and get away from it all. It is a retreat into the wild, the garden is unconventional and deliberately ‘overgrown’, to encourage as much wildlife as possible. It is perfect for people looking for seclusion and privacy in nature. Be prepared for some mud in the winter and, given proximity to nature, the odd creepy-crawly visitor. Guest access You will have your own garden and deck, with the best view on Gower. The buildings next door are used by the owner and are private. Other things to note The property is rural and located 1.5 miles from the nearest village, with access via a VERY BUMPY single track country lane. Please be advised this is NOT a suburban listing, the cabin is secluded and surrounded by the wild and is best suited to those looking to get away from it all. The private road is VERY bumpy and not suitable for low riding cars due to potholes, please drive slowly. There is WiFi in the bunkhouse but because we are at the end of the line our connection is not very fast, it sometimes goes down. When this happens it can take several days before reconnection. We have a great selection of books for you to read. Please bring wellies or other footwear suitable for walking in wet weather, the area around the property in winter can be very muddy. There are no laundry facilities in The Bunkhouse, but there is a washing line and clothes horse for drying.
