"...The thatched cottage, looked like something you would see on the front of a postcard, it was delightful. Inside it was extremely clean, tidy, and it had everything that was needed, to make my stay thoroughly comfortable and enjoyable. Doris, really had gone, above and beyond. I loved the extra effort that was made, I felt blissfully relaxed and cosy[...]and the bed was so comfortable and had an electric blanket, which was perfect for snuggling down into at the end of the evening, it made for a perfect nights sleep. A very peaceful place, I would definitely love to go back and stay there again." Rebecca "This was a great find and good for visiting different places on Exmoor. Doris was very welcoming and made it easy for us to enjoy our stay. It is an oasis of peace and quiet and surrounded by beautiful scenery. The cottage itself is both practical and homely, in fact 'cosy cottage' suits it very well. We loved sitting on the private terrace listening to the birds singing whilst enjoying a coffee or glass of wine." Lesley "Fabulous location, nicely tucked away in a beautiful location but close enough to Dulverton to walk in. [...] Would like to go back to the lovely thatched cottage in the summer to enjoy evenings sitting on the deck with a glass of something cold." Guy "We had such a relaxing weekend at Doris' cottage in the most idyllic countryside setting. Had everything we needed and could have stayed for much longer as felt right at home. Have to mention the night sky as the stars really come out away from all the light pollution and we saw the brightest full moon from the patio - wow! What an excellent base for exploring Exmoor and beyond." Laura "We discovered the Thatched Cottage last minute... and wow did we discover the perfect getaway! ... Just the right size for 2 of us, so peaceful and despite being on the farm, it also felt incredibly private. We were blessed the last night with a blanket of stars which we could stand out on the private terrace and gaze upwards and the last morning was stunning sunshine so we got to see the land in all its glory. It really is a beautiful bit of land, lots of accessible walks and not far to get to the moors. We really hope to visit again! Full recommend this cottage for a getaway." Amy "Lovely peaceful and comfortable cottage, perfect place to stay if you like hiking, lots of wildlife & birds around, we even had a sparrowhawk perching briefly right outside the window. Cottage had everything we needed, and was lovely and warm, and Doris was a great host." Sali Guest access You have your own private garden and decking area away from the other property, as well as a small sitting area in the front garden which catches the morning sun. Whatever time of year you come, there is always something in bloom. We encourage guests to take in as much of the gardens and wildlife as possible. You are also welcome to walk on the footpaths around our land - just ask for directions! Other things to note Long lets are considered over the winter. The Thatched Cottage is in a very peaceful rural setting at the end of a single track lane (with passing places!). Please note it can be bumpy - it has taken quite a battering after the rain this winter. It's fine for an ordinary car (our little Honda Jazz manages it!) if you take it slowly, and it only takes a few mins to drive it. We also let another larger cottage at the other end of the Devon Longhouse. You can find it on Airbnb via an internet search for "Rural Escape on Exmoor". People can hire both the cottages together if they are holidaying with friends or family. We have our own delicious spring water. We would love to host you in our cottage!
