Private/Easy Parking/Walk to Dinner, Historic

Your space is in the lower half of a historic, Spanish style home in the neighborhood of Eagle Rock. Originally a speakeasy in the 1930’s, we’ve maintained its character while at the same time converting the bar area into a convenient kitchenette and adding a new modern bathroom. The yard is very lush with native oaks and flowers and there is a designated area for guests. We are located 2 blocks from the main boulevard which has many shops and restaurants. Just leave the car and walk to dinner. The space If you decide to book for a long stay, (10 or more days), we will do a fresh sheet and towel exchange outside your door. There are also lots of local spots to get takeout food. This is an ideal place for someone who needs to work away from home for a while. The WiFi is excellent, parking is never an issue, and no one will interrupt you. This space is connected to nature and the past while at the same time offering modern conveniences. The property is 1/3 of an acre and you are free to wander around except for the private family and dog space. There are signs up and gates so its very clear what is available and what is off limits. We live upstairs and we do our best to be quiet, especially at night. But if you’re a person who doesn’t want to hear another human being, please do not stay here. If you are annoyed by the hoot of an owl, the buzz of a fly, or the meow of a cat, please stay elsewhere. There is a white noise machine bedside which hardly anyone uses, but it’s great if you need it. Guest access When you arrive you’ll see a wrought iron fence that surrounds the entire property. You’ll be able to let yourself in without me but I’m close by if you need me. I always leave all the windows open between guest visits for health reasons so it may be chilly or warm when you first arrive. Once you shut the windows you can control heat/air with the remote on the bedside table but you may be totally comfortable with the temp that is set for the whole house….your choice. Your entrance and space are totally private. The whole downstairs is yours and there are outdoor chairs to hang out in. Other things to note The sofa/futon you see in the pics turns into a double bed. Yes, in theory it will accommodate 2 adults but I think its best for one adult or 2 kids. If you decide to unfold the futon, don’t forget to drop the upper 2 legs to the floor. They are folded into the back of the futon. I’ve had a few guests who didn’t do that and they were crooked all night! The queen bed is exceptionally comfortable. The mattress is a new Leesa memory foam and the linens and pillows are top notch. This area was originally a speakeasy bar in the 1930's so it's a fantastic place to mix and enjoy a beer or cocktail. It is also a very convenient kitchenette with a microwave, toaster oven, mini fridge, electric kettle, etc. Everything you need to make tea or coffee, including decaf, is provided. Choose between a regular coffee maker or French press. If you want to cook meals from scratch, you should probably stay somewhere else. This is not a huge American kitchen. The kitchenette is best for reheating takeout, having cereal for breakfast, etc., not cooking thanksgiving dinner. If you break something, please tell us immediately because we will need to replace the item before the next guest arrives. We won’t hit the roof, believe me. Also, stains on the bed linens are really tough to get out if they are not reported right away, so please speak up. Accidents happen, we won’t throw you out! But to avoid stuff like this, please refrain from eating and drinking in bed. (Especially red wine) Thanks. Kids are welcome here but we do not provide toys or cribs, etc. Of course you can bring your own toys but please no markers or crayons or anything that could stain the bed linens. Thx.
