Description

Brookfield is a rural community near the State Capital and surrounded by towns and cities with services and sights worth visiting. Twin Ponds Cottage is set off from a lightly traveled Town road The two ponds were created by the most recent glacier and are 40+ feet deep in places. There are 5 species of fish including Large Mouth Bass and Chain Pickerel. There is good boating, fishing, swimming, country walks and a porch to relax upon. It is in the middle of a 228 acre Christmas tree farm. The space Twin Ponds Cottage is fully furnished with a modern kitchen which includes a full sized refrigerator, electric oven, a microwave, two coffee makers, an air fryer, etc. There is a view of the West pond from the kitchen. The 50 inch Roku TV depends upon the internet and the 4K DVD player for content. The fiber optic internet connection is 300 MPS which provides plenty of band width for streaming movies, TV shows and internet access for your laptop, tablet or smart phones. Cell phone coverage varies by provider. Some work in the cottage but all work in the front yard. The two bedrooms each have a queen sized bed. They can comfortably sleep up to 4 and the sofa bed in the living-dining area could sleep up to two more. There are two bathrooms. The larger one with a tub/shower also has a washer and dryer. The smaller bathroom is conveniently located between the two bedrooms and has a shower. There is a fireplace in the living/dining area but it is not operational. There is a firepit at the grassy dock area and a charcoal grill in the yard near the screened in porch. The wireless internet signal is available on the porch and there are electrical outlets for charging phones, tablets or laptops. There is a rainy day room in the basement with a car table and four chairs for games and puzzles. There are a few games and puzzles supplied and there are a few decks of playing cards. You can also bring your favorites. There is a foosball table which will accommodate 2 or 4 players. There is an oil fired forced hot water boiler which provides heat when needed and a hot water. There is a drilled well in the front lawn. There is a emergency generator in case there is a power outage. Just call me (I live about half a mile away) and I can help set it up. The key feature for most guests is that you are secluded and quiet yet not too far from modern services such as groceries and fuel for your car. There are several lawns that can have croquet or badminton set up (The ingredients are provided.) A town maintained gravel road brings you to 2259 Twin Pond Road. Our guests who are good fishermen, say the fishing is excellent. A Vermont fishing license is required but can be obtained on line. We have two boats: a 12 foot aluminum row boat with oars and a fiberglass pedal boat that can hold up to 5. There is a 12' x 12' float in the West pond from which you can jump or dive into the water. We have the full array of wild animals which includes black bear, eagles, deer, turtles, coyotes, loons, beaver, etc. Because we provide adequate metal cans for trash and recyclables and pick them up twice a week , the animals have not become a problem. Guest access There are two parking area for at least four vehicles. Most major vehicle brands have dealerships within 20 miles. There are several brands of grocery stores including Hannafords, Shaws, Price Chopper, and Walmart. There are several convenience stores with gas, some within about 6 miles.
