Description
A recently renovated two bedroom apartment on the first and second floors above our home. Beams and hop kiln original features can be found throughout this large two bedroom apartment. Space includes two bedrooms, landing and stairs down to a large dining room and lounge. From the dining room is a large galley kitchen with everything you could need. Outside you'll find your own seating area for alfresco dining. Experience a bit of British farming history that is still surrounded by hops fields. The space This property is a 2 bedroom self contained apartment above our family home with its own entrance and parking for one car only. The building is a converted Oast House and Hop Kiln with the distinctive towers on the roof. Two of the four towers are the bedrooms in the apartment. Please be aware that the apartment is on the first and second floor and you need to climb a flight of stairs outside the building to reach the front door. See photos. Inside the apartment, you'll find a small hall with coat and boot cupboard, a sanitizer station and a walkthrough to facilitate non-contact hosting. (See covid info) Through the internal door you'll enter the living space consisting of the lounge and dining room. You'll find the kitchen through an arch and the bathroom is tucked away in the corner. Through another door, you find a small staircase up to the bedrooms. The two bedrooms overlook the hops field and they both have solid mango wood chests of drawers and fitted wardrobes. One bedroom has twin single low beds that zip and link together to create a super-king bed (if preferred) and the other bedroom has a king-size bed. Both rooms have fans, mirrors, bedside tables, lamps and hair driers. The beds are low because of the sloping walls of the tower but they also enable you to see out of the low window in the morning to enjoy the countryside. Roof beams and hop kiln features are found above the beds. Both bedrooms are dual aspect. The kitchen is fully equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher, electric hob and oven, fridge and freezer. Toaster, kettle, microwave and slow cooker (available on request) are also in the kitchen. All the utensils, cutlery, plates, glasses, pots and pans can be found along with an airer, ironing board and iron. We do have a tumble dryer elsewhere if you're desperate. There's also plenty of room to store any food you might bring with you. I do provide salt, pepper, oil sprays, sugar, tea bags, coffee, milk, bread, cereals and a few other local treats. The lounge has a beamed ceiling and two chesterfield type sofas giving plenty of room to relax. Here you will find a 43in Smart TV with Freesat and DVD/Blu-ray player. With your own account details you can log in and watch Amazon Prime and Netflix. You will also find a few board games and lots of books and DVDs in the sideboard. There are also local area guides and maps, history books and local walks. Some of which you just walk out of the apartment and start across the fields! There are plenty of local attractions leaflets to look through to give you ideas of what to do while you stay with us and there is also a DVD showing a documentary of hop picking back when people from all around arrived to pick the hops. The dining room with its beams throughout, features a solid wood dining table and chairs for 4, overlooking the hops field. In the corner you'll find a solid mango wood desk if you need to work while staying with us. The bathroom has a walk in electric shower, guaranteeing a hot shower anytime of the day. Along with a sink, toilet and a heated towel rail, we also provide individual shampoo and shower gels if you forget yours. Again the ceiling has exposed beams and there is a velux window in the ceiling for light and ventilation. Due to our location we are not on mains drains so there are strict rules on what can go down the drains. There is a small area outside for your use including a large picnic table under a gazebo. This area is not totally private as it's part of our garden, but it has views of the hop field and the sunset of a summers evening. The outside area is lit up by motion detection lights and there is also emergency lighting on the stairs which will still work in a powercut. Watch out for conkers from next doors Horse Chestnut Tree. The apartment has central heating and hot water from a combi boiler. Due to the energy crisis and to avoid shutting down completely, the heating is on a timer. It will not be on 24/7. It will come on for a few hours in the morning and again in the evening. Please ask for more details if concerned. WiFi full-fibre. The apartment is located within a very quiet complex of converted farm buildings with limited parking, so consideration for the neighbours in close proximity is required throughout your stay. There is ONE parking space and the apartment is above my parents home, so please be considerate regarding noise. The apartment is only suitable for quiet getaways and romantic breaks for couples. Although the apartment has 2 bedrooms and sleeps 4 we advertise for two people, with additional guests being an extra cost. This was done to control noise to downstairs mainly and because currently there is only one parking space. No children under 18 are allowed to stay either. Again this was to control noise, limit damage and because the apartment is not child friendly, especially with the outside steps. There is only ONE parking space at the property near to the stairs up to the apartment. Due to the steepness of the drive near the carpark, some heavier and bigger cars can beach on the way down and struggle to exit back up the slope due to the gravel. Please take it slowly as there are other vehicles, children, pets and wildlife (mainly pheasants) around. If you have a larger car like an estate or big luxury car, please let me know and I can arrange for you to park in our carport. Vans are not allowed in the shared carpark. There is no other parking near the property. Guest access The apartment has 2 bedrooms, a lounge, a dining room, kitchen, hall, bathroom, one parking space and small outside space with views over the fields. Other things to note The apartment is very peaceful and relaxing making it the perfect romantic location. On arrival you will receive a welcome pack consisting of milk, bread, tea, coffee, sugar and breakfast cereals. Other treats may also be included depending on availability.
