A lovely Portuguese villa in a quiet village with its own pool and a majordomo that cleans and cooks. Yet the home is close to pubs, bars and restaurants and hot spots. Beaches are close by yet the location is a private space. This is our home with books and art and a vibe filled with birdsong and peace. The space The Space Approached via a maze of narrow lanes between the high compound walls of many traditionally styled homes, Casa Rosita is in the quiet, rural village of Saligao. Most aspects of life in this historical village have not changed. Though modernisation has set in, it does not make itself evident. The older generation still walk or cycle to the tinto or market place complete with walking-stick and hat, occasionally stopping to exchange a bit of news or greeting with a fellow villager. The house has been carefully adapted to modern living with the inclusion of 3 stylish bathrooms and a well equipped fitted kitchen yet skillfully retaining the gentle ambience of bygone times. Clever use of space in the rear courtyard has meant the inclusion of small swimming pool and a delightful outdoor dining area. The courtyard area is shaded by mature trees the perfect spot for an al-fresco meal or early morning cup of coffee. FIRST FLOOR From the living room a polished wooden staircase rises to the fourth bedroom Bedroom 4 is a large double bedded suite with en-suite bathroom GROUND FLOOR Steps lead to an entrance balcao with time honoured seating (which has no doubt been party to many a long evening discussion). Heavy double wooden entrance doors open into A spacious, well furnished lounge with generous comfortable seating. A large and well equipped family kitchen, at one end an extensive range of bespoke teak and glass fronted fitted floor and wall cupboards and the other the dining area. Bedroom 1 is air-conditioned and has a double bed. There is a separate dressing room and en-suite bathroom. Bedroom 2 is air-conditioned and has a large single bed. Bedroom 3 is also air-conditioned and has full size bed Bedroom 2 and 3 share the large family bathroom These three bedrooms, the dining/kitchen and family bathroom open off a long, wide corridor which reaches the length of the property. Double doors opposite the spacious dining area open out into the rear garden where you will find a courtyard dining area and the swimming pool. OUTSIDE The house is set in a walled garden to the front and one side. The owner has done much to create an inviting space in which to relax with lawns, a profusion of young tropical planting and an established large swaying bamboo grove and mature trees. To the rear of the property is the enclosed pretty courtyard. Where the dining terrace and pool are located. STAFF Resident Caretaker/House Steward There is one resident member of staff who lives in his own self-contained accommodation at the rear of the property.
