The Bungalow is walking distance from the Dutch Fort which was constructed in the 1640s by the Dutch. Here you can find a lovely old church initially built during the same time the fort was built along with several well preserved old houses which were built during the same period. You can also see the point where the river meets the sea. Walking distance from the main Fort is the smaller Star Fort which was built by the Dutch for added protection of the main Fort. Also walking distance is the Weherahena temple. A sight to see is the Dikwalle Blow which is completely natural where sea spray due to the high water pressure, sprays through a blowhole up to some a considerable height. Further away in Ahangama and Midigama is another amazing site which is the only one of its kind in the world. Here you can see fishermen fishing while being perched on wooden stilts in the sea. Further away (about 10 to 15 minutes’ drive) is Mirrisa beach where you Whale and dolphin watching is possible. Approximately 4km away is the beautifully constructed Dondra Head Light House with its beautiful garden. Dondra Head is a cape on the extreme southern tip of Sri Lanka.
