Description
Waterlake is a charming old cottage at Coleraine, Southern Grampians. It sleeps up to 5 guests & is near many attractions (13 mins to Wannon Falls, 20 min to Nigretta Falls). Explore the region or sit back and enjoy the cosy woodfire and garden. Free wifi & TV with Free Netflix/Youtube included. We encourage weekly stays for a 17% discount. There is a small fishing lake across the road with barbecue and play ground. A peaceful place to unwind and relax and take in the fresh mountain air! The space Waterlake will take you back in time, constructed in the 1940's, this old house is decorated with local and period artwork and furniture. The cottage has been renovated but old characteristics have been preserved. The backyard has a peaceful private garden, deck and patio. The cottage provides self check in, has heating and also a wood fire and cooling. All basic amenities including free wifi, coffee, tea, milk, fresh clean linen and towels for your comfortable stay. Across the road you will find a small fishing lake and a children's play area and barbecue facilities. Attractions and surrounding places to explore (driving distances below are from Waterlake Cottage) : * Wannon & Nigretta Waterfalls - 13 to 20 minute drive * Grampians National Park - 45 minute drive (there is lots to do from hiking to camping or fishing or just enjoying the scenery) * Halls Gap - 1 hour and 25 minutes (great place for fun, grab a meal, hire electric e-bikes and ride to the lake or the bush, if you're feeling really energetic take the steep walk down Mackenzie Falls (approximately 300 steps!). Just a warning that getting back up is a strenuous activity! * Dunkeld - 47 minute drive (Dunkeld's charming main street features shops, trendy art-space cafes like Koopmans, and the Royal Mail Hotel which is regularly voted one of the best dining destinations in Australia) or take the short drive to picturesque Mirranatwa in the beautiful Victoria Valley. * The Blue Lake - Mount Gambier (South Australia) - 1 hour and 10 minutes (an awe-inspiring scenic spot of Mount Gambier and its volcanic crater, the Blue Lake also boasts a vibrant blue colour during the months of December through to March each year) * The Chocolate Factory (Glenelg Chocolates) - 1 minute drive or short stroll from the cottage * Coleraine Railway Reserve - short stroll (across the road), there is also a tourist information centre located just across the road from the cottage * The Peter Francis Points Arboretum -'The Points' - 6 minute drive located in Coleraine * Konong Wootong Reservoir - great for fishing - 13 minute drive * Hamilton - (art and motor museums) 23 minute drive * Mount Napier state park - another quiet spot great for seeing kangaroos! - 25 minute drive * Casterton - birthplace of the Australian Kelpie - 23 minutes * The Limestone Coast - 1 hour and 10 minutes * The Coonawara wine region - 1 hour and 17 minutes * Portland - 1 hour and 10 minutes * Port Fairy - 1 hour and 20 minutes * Warnambool - 1 hour and 35 minutes * The Great Ocean Road, Twelve Apostles - 2 hours and 20 minutes Guest access Access for guests is private and they have the whole cottage to themselves including parking and a private garden. The driveway extends all the way to the backyard and up to 6 cars can be parked on the property. There are no direct neighbours on either sides of the cottage. Directly across the road is a small fishing lake/picnic area. Within walking distance is also the tourist information centre for the Southern Grampians. Other things to note Free wifi and smart TV with free Netflix and YouTube is included. Please note we cannot provide fresh milk as we do not live nearby however long life milk and tea/coffee is provided.
