Blessed with stunning nature and an easygoing pace of life, this immaculately preserved Adriatic fort may just be a perfect microcosm of Croatia.” says National Geographic. Trogir, a harmonious stone town on a small island that is connected to the mainland and the island of Čiovo by bridges. The old town, under UNESCO protection, is a treasure trove for lovers of art, Renaissance and Baroque buildings, Romanesque churches… It is called the town-museum which is visible in the famous portal of Trogir cathedral by the craftsman Radovan in 1240, a Renaissance city lodge, the thousand year old Monastery of sv. Nikola [St. Nicholas] which has the ancient famous relief of Kairos preserved in it from the 4th century BC. The small, narrow streets and small village squares, numerous restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops and galleries, along with numerous cultural and music open air events give this town a special atmosphere of the Mediterranean. National Geographic Top 10 city-islands Review from Poul describe location: We chose this apartment as one of two locations in Croatia so that we could see more of the country. It was a little difficult to find initially, even though we got within 20 metres using our sat-nav. After texting Ivika kindly drove to meet us and after this we had no problems. The split-level apartment is one of three, each one with a floor in the block, with each having a great sea view. There are two bedrooms with double beds and en-suite shower rooms, with the fifth sofa bed in the kitchen area. The kitchen was well equipped for five, and the apartment also had a washing machine craftily hidden in the corridor between the bedrooms. We made great use of the large balcony, eating all our meals in the apartment on it and watching the sunsets with a glass of Grasevina or Pan. Wi-Fi coverage was intermittent in one room but covered the rest of the apartment and also the pool OK. Access to the sea is by crossing the single road and onto the rocks which has a small ladder into the sea. There is a heated freshwater shower by the pool which was an added bonus. There was a small mini-market and a sea-front restaurant within five minutes walk and the main beach was 12-15 minutes away. The Trogir diving centre was also about ten minutes away on foot. We found the location just enough off the beaten track to be really relaxing but with enough in the area to keep us all busy for our weeks stay. Some of the roads were narrow in places but we got used to these after using them a couple of times. Getting through Trogir to Okrug Gornji was OK but of the three times we drove off Ciovo we had one bad traffic experience where it took over an hour and twenty minutes compared to 15 minutes the other two times. We ate out three times, once in Trogir and twice in Okrug Gornji and found the pricing locally very good value, for example 40 - 50 Kunas for a large pizza and 18 Kunas for a large local beer (At least 30% less than Dubrovnik!) Ivika and Borena were very helpful and friendly and the kids loved their French bulldog Jacky. This was our first visit to Croatia and we are already planning our return. Other things to note In price is not included parking and using yacuzzi Animals are extra payment ARROUND HOUSE ARE INSTALLED CCTV system which are not in use during summer
