Mrs McGregor’s Garden Sheds
Description
If you’re looking for a private and rustic retreat, a short 10 minute-drive from Matakana Village and just over an hour’s drive north of Auckland, you may well have found the perfect spot. Set on a 20-acre lifestyle property – with spectacular views of the outer Hauraki Gulf - our tiny house offers a unique experience in the heart of the Matakana coastal region. Detached from the main household, it provides a tranquil and restorative space to relax and replenish the soul. The space Located in a delightful garden setting, the tiny house is sunny, elevated and offers panoramic views out to Little Barrier and Great Barrier island beyond. The surrounding cottage gardens are testament to Rebecca’s passion and expertise for creating a wonderful array of colours, textures and scents. Guests also have access to the swimming pool between the hours of 10 am – 6 pm. Comprising a studio bedroom (double bed), ‘al fresco’ dining area, outdoor shower and toilet, all of your holiday needs are met. In essence, it is ‘camping’ with a difference, devoid of the leaky tent, flapping canvas and make-shift kitchen, offering instead a comfortable and creative alternative. Beyond the tiny house, 19 acres of paddocks graze a small herd of cattle, while our four hens supply fresh eggs on a daily basis. The studio bedroom offers a double bed clad in cotton bed linen and is a great place to curl up for a siesta with a leisurely cup of tea. The adjacent ‘loggia’ features an electric jug, toaster, bar fridge, crockery and utensils and opens out to a small patio area, complete with gas BBQ and outdoor setting. The organic vegetable garden lends the tiny house its unique name and character. Enjoy free-range eggs from our hens or help yourself to fresh herbs and salad greens. Built in 1969, the tiny house has a certain charm reminiscent of a bygone era, when life’s pleasures were simple. The outdoor shower is without question the ‘pièce de résistance’! There is nothing quite as satisfying as getting back to nature with a hot, outdoor shower after a lazy day at the beach. Enjoy the soft evening sun on your face and a gentle breeze on your back as you wash away the salt and sea-spray before heading to the Leigh Sawmill café, renowned for its great food and vibrant entertainment. Rates include all linen, tea & coffee & Wi-Fi. We have a 'no smoking & no pets' policy. Guest access Guests have full access to all garden areas and limited access to the swimming pool between the hours of 10 am – 6 pm. For the safety of our guests, access to the paddocks is not permitted on the grounds that we have livestock grazing. Other things to note Tea and coffee making are provided. Breakfast can be arranged on request at an additional cost. A minimum of 24 hours notice is normally required. For longer stay guests (min. 5 nights), a laundry service is also available at an additional cost.
