Longforde Cottage

Welcome to Longforde, a very special, charming and beautifully furnished cottage attached to our main home but completely independent with your own access and landscaped to ensure your absolute privacy. Set on 4 acres of stunning gardens, each room has private rural views of the countryside and Tararua ranges. We are located at the end of one of Greytowns most beautiful streets, a walkable 2km into the shops and cafes. As well, we are on a popular walking and biking route to the Waiohine river. The space Our cottage is a perfect base to explore the Wairarapa or a beautiful relaxing and peaceful retreat to just stay put, enjoy and switch off. The cottage has a cosy separate lounge and kitchenette, It has no oven, but a microwave, small fridge and also a BBQ and outdoor cooker in the courtyard if weather permits to cook outside. The kitchenette is well equipped with crockery, utensils, wooden boards, platters, wine and champagne glasses, and all the essentials. There is a old french Bakers table converted into a kitchen bench with bar stools to sit at and also a little bistro table that 1-4 people can cozily sit around. There are various outdoor sitting areas depending on the weather and the time of day, choose from the sunny little kitchen bistro patio table, the cool verandah in the hot summer months, or the private outdoor courtyard which catches the last of the sun with views to the Tararuas. If you are a bath lover, we have a old rustic claw foot bath outside in the courtyard to relax in and gaze at the stars. For winter months we also have a inside bath. We run a online artisan doughnut business from our stables Kitchen and always provide our guests with bakery treats. We also leave a loaf of bread for breakfast with butter, jams, tea, plunger and a Nespresso coffee machine. There are 2 beautiful light bedrooms, a queen and a King. The King is a sleigh bed with stunning sash windows to sit in bed and watch the birdlife in the gum trees. Both beds are extremely comfortable. For a 1-2 person booking, please let us know if you will be using the second bedroom, if so there is a additional $50 linen fee and the price will be adjusted accordingly. The cottage is full of old cottage charm with French doors, sash windows and old polished floors throughout. For the winter months the cottage has a beautiful and very efficient log burner to relax by plus there are heaters throughout to keep you warm and toasty. The cottage has freeview, Wifi and a chromecast equipped TV with soundbar. For your use also we have two very comfortable vintage style cruiser bikes with baskets,helmets and a lock to freely explore the area and bike into Greytown village for lunch!
