Description

Our cabin is on the edge of a peaceful woodland holiday park, within easy reach of fantastic beaches and countryside in the Pembrokeshire National Park. The Scandinavian-designed cabin is cosy and quiet, with 60s inspired decor. There is a snug double bedroom and a small bedroom with full size bunkbeds, a lounge, dining room, deck and a proper bathroom and kitchen. On the park there is a playground, dog-walking field and swimming pool (open mon-sat peak summer). The space Stuff to bring Bed linen and towels (duvets and pillows provided) Jumpers/slippers: the cabin is blissfully cool and shady, but can get chilly (but there is heating) Phone/card in case the electricity meter needs a top-up (instructions in the kitchen) Swimming stuff in summer, plus something to walk to and from the pool – there are no changing facilities there. Waterproofs: it's west Wales. Wellies: ditto, especially if you want to use the dog walk on site. Guest access The cabin is located at Penlan holiday village (SA38 9JN, (URL HIDDEN) Cenarth, Carmathenshire. The postcode will take most sat navs to the vicinity, and then the park is signposted with a sign off the B4332. The Cabin There's a double bedroom, a small bunk room with two single beds (the bottom bunk is like sleeping in an old ship and is very cosy, lounge, kitchen, dining room and bathroom. There’s a deck with seating, and you can set up a hammock to catch the evening sun (it’s stored in the TV unit cupboard, string it between the pillars). Please put the grey chairs back inside when you leave to prevent them getting blown away! There’s a BBQ on the deck; charcoal can be obtained at the Nisa shop in Cenarth, or you can get Pembrokeshire environmentally friendly charcoal at the National Park shop in Newport, adjacent to the public car park. When you first arrive, you'll need to check the electricity meter and turn the power and fridge on: the meter is in the narrow cupboard in the kitchen, topup instructions on the wall if needed. If the power is off, flick the switch on and the meter will light up. To turn the fridge on, just turn the dial inside the door to about 3, it should be plugged in. The water heater is in the bunk room, switch this on at the wall for hot water taps. Power switches for the cooker and microwave are above the worktop where you'll also find power switches for the shower and hot water. There's some phone reception (enough for data on some networks) but very limited wifi. Lounge There's a TV, DVD player and digital radio. For sound, switch on the amp on the floor and use the small knob to select a source (tuner for radio, video 1 for TV). There is an HDMI cable if you want to plug in a laptop/tablet to supplement the DVDs in the cupboard and dining room. You can plug in your phone/MP3 player using the cable provided, and select the correct source on the amp. The electric fire is a fan heater – switch it on at the wall and then use the switches on top. Note that it can operate in naff light only mode, so make sure you select a power option if you want heat. Bathroom Switches for the extractor fan and heater are on the kitchen wall outside the bathroom. Hot water and shower switches above the kitchen worktop. Bedrooms There are pillows, duvets and blankets, but do bring bed linen (normal size double and two singles as required). The top bunk does not have guardrails and as such is not suitable for small children. The heaters in the bedrooms are very effective and do have thermostats, but best not to leave them on unattended. There are small mobile radiators which can be left on (as long as they are not covered). Kitchen Should have everything you need, including fridge, oven and hob. Let us know if there's anything missing. If you need to do any washing, there's a coin operated laundry by the office. On the site Laundry, heated outdoor pool open 10-5 tue-sat in summer, playground and games field, dog walking area. People with kids: the playground is good. People without kids: the playground is sufficiently far from the cabin. Other things to note When you leave Please take out all your rubbish and recycling, turn off the fridge and leave it open, turn off the water heater and cooker and leave the cabin clean and tidy for the next guests.
