Fernances Creek Farm is one hour north of Sydney in the picturesque Wollombi Valley. Ten minutes from Laguna with the Watagan Mountains and Yengo National Park on our doorstep. The Hunter Valley vineyards start here, with Broke & Pokolbin vineyards 45 minutes away. We are a Haflinger Horse stud on 210 acres, with show jumping and eventing facilities. Great for couples and families, the Back Forty Solar Cottage is a fully featured off grid solar home with all of the comforts and space to relax. The space The Cottage has 2 bedrooms. One with queen bed and the other with two king singles. If you are a keen horse rider and own your own horse (for EA riders only), ask us about Stay & Ride to utilise out cross country and showjumping areas. If you have a bigger group you can also book the clubhouse with deluxe tents. Guest access Fernances Creek is a working farm with horses and over 200 acres of pasture and eucalypt forest. You are welcome to take a walk on the internal roads and meet our horses scattered around the property. Their are lots of places to walk in the Wollombi and Laguna valleys. Let us know if you want some tips. Other things to note The Back Forty cottage is entirely off the grid. There is fresh rainwater to drink and electricity from the sun. The house is powered from our solar shed with lithium batteries and a backup generator. Satellite internet connects us to the world. There is no telephone but over the top data calls on your cell phone work just fine. You can, of course, just switch off, chill out and stay out of contact! Please be aware that wildlife sounds, including those from insects, birds, or other animals, may be part of your experience. Weather conditions such as rain, wind, or storms can also affect the environment. No Guarantee of Silence: While we strive to provide a relaxing and enjoyable stay, complete silence or an urban-like noise-free environment cannot be guaranteed. Guests sensitive to noise are encouraged to consider this before booking. Physical Activities and Risks: By staying on our property, you acknowledge that there are inherent risks associated with outdoor and agricultural activities. These include exposure to uneven terrain, interactions with animals (both domestic and wildlife), and the presence of farm machinery and equipment. Injury Risks: Although we take safety precautions, the nature of a farm environment includes potential risks such as slips, trips, and falls, particularly in areas with uneven ground, mud, or puddles. Please exercise caution while walking around, especially near animal enclosures, tools, and equipment. Animal Encounters: Animals on the farm are part of the natural surroundings. While efforts are made to ensure safety, guests should be mindful of their presence and take care when interacting with or being near them.
