Wai Rua The Cottage

The Cottage at Wai Rua, west of Whangarei, is approximately 18 minutes drive from Kamo via Pipiwai Road. It is a hidden gem with amazing rural views, including massive volcanic rocks, lakes and ponds, set in a beautiful tranquil garden. It can be a getaway retreat or stopover. The space Don't be put off by the gravel road, you won't regret what you find at our place. The cottage is far enough away from the main house to give plenty of privacy but close enough to join us for a meal or glass of wine. The pigs will "talk" to you from their paddock and the hens will provide you with fresh eggs for your breakfast (if you wish). The orchard provides fresh fruit depending on the season. Guest access We have a pool that you are most welcome to use ( it is solar heated so depends on how much sun we get as to what temperature it is). It is closed for the winter months. We have 80 acres of farmland with a metal/gravel road throughout, which is perfect for walking or biking. The local farmer who leases the land can show you how to milk a cow. Rowing on the lake is also possible. The hot tub which is wood fired is set at a cost of $25.00 for the whole of your stay - this is paid in cash to the hosts. The cost is because it takes approximately 3 hours to get it hot and we also provide the fire wood. It is in great space where you can enjoy birdsong and the stars at night Other things to note If you wish to bring a child please contact me before making a booking, because we have many hazards which are not child friendly. It would be great to discuss your circumstances first.
