Seki is located in the center of Japan. It is famous for swords, cutlery and cormorant fishing. It also is a good base for visiting other less traveled parts of Japan like Gujo-Hachiman, Mino, Nagoya, Inuyama, Takayama, and others! Please come visit! The space Very quiet and peaceful area. Your room is a Japanese style Tatami (URL HIDDEN) can see a Japanese garden from your room. You can use all rooms on the first floor. ( Living room, Dinning room and computer room) Please make yourself at home. Wifi: At home: High speed wifi I am a Japanese paper doll teacher. If you want to learn how to make a Japanese paper doll, you can book the class. You can make a doll while you stay at my house. If you want to know the detail thing about the class, please send me a message. Guest access You can wash your laundry with a washing machine. I will help you how to use it, or I wash your laundry if you don't mind. You can keep your food in a refrigerator. You share a shower room with my family and other guests. You can use kitchen and dining room to eat and drink. You can also cook, but please don't use a gas when I am not at home due to not get fire. You can use first floor, the second floor is private space for me and my family. I clean your room while you are out. If you don't want me to clean your room, please let me know. During your stay I am happy to drive you to a museum and other places where you need to go in Seki. ( If I am busy, I give you a map and direction) Seki is famous for cutleries. I can help you to buy a good knife, if you need. I am happy to go out with you for dinner or lunch when I am free. I have many boardgames to play with you if you want. When I am busy, I will help you how to get to a store and museums. I will try to my best. : ) If you would like to eat breakfast with us, let's cook together. The administration in Seki told me that if I would like to serve breakfast, it is OK as long as we cook together. When you arrive at Seki station( Nagaragawa line) or bus station (Seki city terminal or Kousoku Seki), I can pick you up or drive you to the station if I am at home.( I need to know what time you will arrive or leave at the station.) Other things to note What you can do around here: 1. The demonstration of making swords on the first Sunday of March, April, June, November, and on the Seki cutlery festival days( and Saturday and Sunday.) If you would like to visit a famous sword-smith working place, you need to book in advance. It cost money, but it will become a special memory for you. 2. Cormorant fishing from the 11th of May to the 15th of October. 3400yen/ person if you would like to get on a boat to see. You can see cormorant fishing from river side too. 3. Tour through a knife factory 4. Japanese cooking class- Ozeki Cooking Class 5.Making Japanese paper doll- Chisako's Japanese paper doll 6. Japanese paper lantern festival in Mino 2nd Saturday and Sunday evening in October 7. Shopping good quality knife for a reasonably priced 8. Hiking 9. Relax and recharge for the next place you go :) 10. Hot spring in Seki or Gujo It takes about 30 minutes from Seki station to the hot spring station. ( Minami Kodakara Onsen) It takes about 15 minutes from my house to a nice public bath on foot. 11: Gujo- Bon dance It takes about one hour to Gujo from Seki by train or 40 minutes by bus. Gujo Bon dance is very famous in Japan. Even though you don't know how to dance, you can follow people dancing and it is very fun. You can borrow Summer Kimono at my house and I can put it on. From the 11th of July to the 5th of September 13. Cycling 14. Play boardgames at my house 15. Enjoy Origami or make a small Japanese paper doll bookmark with me 16. Rental Kimono and walk on the traditional old street in Mino. 17: Go to see the famous pond by bus Cormorant fishing, Tour through a knife factory, Cooking class, Doll class, Rental Kimono+ putting it on: You need to book in advance and these activities cost money A factory tour is available when a person in charge is at the company.
