Stunning secluded Golden Bay eco home, totally off grid, is only a scenic 20 minute drive from Takaka township and 15 minutes to the lovely sandy beach at Pohara. The cottage is situated about 500m above sea level in predominantly mature beech forest, with magnificent views over the Bay, Farewell Spit and into the Kahurangi ranges. Please note: The driveway up to the cottage is unsealed, very steep & twisty, thus a 4WD vehicle with high ground clearance & suitable for off road is essential. The space The cottage is in a peaceful and private location and is a great base to explore Golden Bay from. Enjoy getting back to the basics, soak up the sea views, meet a friendly weka or two and be awed by a spectacular night sky. If you are lucky you may even see a NZ falcon chase a hawk away or hear and see the keas ! It offers outstanding scenery and serenity amongst the wilderness of the NZ native bush and is entirely self powered by solar panels and a micro-hydro generator. Tank water is used for water supply thus care is needed re usage of water eg only 1 bath per day or a couple of short showers. Also, whilst the solar and hydro power supplies all normal daily amenities, high drain appliances such as hair dryers are not advised.
