South Africa is experiencing "load-shedding" when power goes out for around 2.5hrs at a time - sometimes once, twice or three times a day. Different neighbourhoods are affected at different times; it could be that our area has power while another doesn't and v.v. A local app (Eskomsepush) provides a schedule which may help you plan your day but please understand that the timings are subject to change. We can help you set up this app so that you can keep informed. A few tips on what to expect: * It's a good idea to keep your devices charged at all times. * We have LED lamps in the apartment - for your own convenience please charge when the power is on. * Wifi will not be available during "load-shedding". However, mobile operators try and keep their repeater towers powered during load-shedding so if you have data, you should still have connectivity. * Don't use the elevators during load-shedding. * ATMs/cash machines and fuel pumps won't work so it’s a good idea to keep your car filled up and a some spare cash for emergencies. * Some restaurants have generators We're nothing if not flexible and try and keep a sense of humour when the power is off.
