Spectacular views with private pool

Located off the beaten path of conventional tourism in the center of Nusa Penida, this beautiful home offers an experience of traditional Balinese culture. The home combines traditional Balinese architecture with simple modern comforts: a kitchen, hot water and light filled bedrooms & living areas. With stunning views of Bali and the local countryside, this magical place also has an infinity swimming pool. It is a unique place for relaxing, working or exploring the magic of the island. The space Originally built more than 25 years ago, we have been the lucky custodians of this house since 2012. It is a magical, special place, quite unlike the cookie-cutter designer villas that Bali is riddled with these days and offers a truly unique opportunity to be up close with nature and a local Nusa Penida community. When you arrive, the first thing you'll see is the private infinity pool that overlooks the valley, with a seperate dining area, umbrella and lounge chairs. The sunsets are amazing from the pool- even better than most of the famous 'beach clubs' in Penida. The house is completely private and set off from the local community by a rough road that winds through local farmland. The living and sleeping areas are housed in separate buildings connected by a short walkway. The living area includes a kitchen, light filled lounging and dining areas and a Balinese style bathroom with a partially open roof. You'll find yourself continually drawn to the veranda, which offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and Mt Agung. The views from here are spectacular and endlessly fascinating. The sleeping area is in a separate building consisting of two bedrooms separated by a thin bamboo wall. Each bedroom contains a queen sized bed (with mosquito nets) and has a separate entrance to an open roof Balinese style bathroom equipped with a shower and hot and cold running water. Geckos, insect eating nocturnal lizards which are everywhere on Bali, even the finest hotels and restaurants, assist in bug control. Be aware that as a result they do leave messy calling cards on the floors in the morning. Because of the traditional, open roof style of the house, we are not able to have air conditioning. However, the house is positioned very high on the mountain and has continual air flow and wind. There are fans in every room for your use, but we actually find it very cool- sometimes even chilly at night! Guest access There are a number of options for making the crossing from Bali to Nusa Penida. Boats leave on a regular basis from Sanur, Kusamba and Padang Bai. We recommend making online reservations ahead of time, either by contacting individual boat companies or a reputable online booking service such as (Hidden by Airbnb) nida. If contacted ahead of time, Cemeng, our English speaking local manager, will be happy to meet your boat on arrival and bring you up to the house by car. The charge for this service is IDR 250,000, payable directly to him. The same service, at the same rate is available for dropping guests off at their boat on departure. Cemeng is an excellent driver and guide and will also be happy to drive you around the island and show you its most beautiful and interesting places. Please discuss any transportation requirements after arrival directly with Cemeng. Payments should be made directly to him. Transportation is not included in the rental price. Other things to note Nusa Penida has just started to develop as a tourist destination and the hamlet of Tiagan where the house is located has a few 'warungs' (local eatery), but no western restaurants, shops or other traditional tourist amenities. Restaurants and supermarkets are 10-20 minutes drive away and we can provide recommendations. We do have a local cook who can prepare Balinese meals for you in your own kitchen, if requested. Vegetarian options are definitely available. The charge for this service is usually about IDR 150,000 per person for dinner and 75k for breakfast . All charges for meal preparation are paid directly to the cook. Cemeng is also able to organise massages at the villa. The house is in the center of a vibrant village and community and as a result there may be local ceremonies and events during your stay.
