Experience the real France. Large sixteenth century house, small sunny and secluded garden, barn. Excellent for visiting the Mediterranean beaches, Carcassonne, the Pyrenees, and the Minervois vineyards. Nearest airports Carcassonne (15 mins) and Toulouse (1h 20). Ideal location fifteen minutes from the medieval city of Carcassonne, thirty-five minutes to the beaches of the Mediterranean and twenty minutes south to the Pyrenees. Restaurants, festivals, walking, petite train into the Pyrenees, white water rafting and kayaking, wild swimming, art, pottery, and antiques, markets and much history. The house has been successfully let since 2004 and always gets great reviews. It's popular and people return for repeat visits. Feedback from guests is always positive. The house is mainly praised for being comfortable, cosy, and extremely well equipped; as one guest said "it feels more lent than rented'. Two double bedrooms, two single bedrooms, large open-plan living/dining/kitchen with wood burning stove. Two bathrooms (bath and walk-in shower), scullery, convector heaters for the winter and fans for the summer are available in all bedrooms. Fully equipped kitchen with a gas hob, electric oven, microwave and fridge-freezer. Scullery with washer-dryer. Entertainment includes CD player. WiFi, television, video, games, books and films. The garden has a BBQ and a large table and chairs with a parasol. The village of Saint Hilaire is famous for being the place where the first sparkling wine in the world was invented. The monk Don Perignon was taught the method by the monks of the Abbey and he successfully began to make his own version.....champagne. Blanquette, the sparkling white wine of the Languedoc is made locally and wins gold medals every year. There is also white wine and a red wine AOC at the Rothchild's vineyard two miles to the east. There is a local train to the mountains, south, and to Carcassonne to the north. This train connects with the TGVs to Narbonne, and Toulouse. The 'Deux Mers' motorway is fifteen minutes north which takes you to the beaches of the Mediterranean in 35 minutes, Barcelona in 3 hours, and Marseilles in 2 hours. Other things to note My house has been successfully let since 2004 with many happy holidays and visitors! People come back again for repeat visits.
