Familyfriendly country house on ecological farm

Enjoy the tranquillity of the mallorcan countryside while your kids discover the many adventures of the farm. We are 5 min from the charming town of Arta with its castle, abundant market, many cafes, restaurants and boutiques. In only 10-20min by car you will reach a variety of beautiful beaches and hikes. The space The charming country house is built with the traditional materials of the island like mares (sandstone), canyas (similar to bamboo) and local wood. It lies hidden in a little oak grove that provides plenty of privacy and nice shade during the hot summer days. Parents can relax while kids play in the fenced in garden, or go out exploring the rest of the big ecological farm. We are a German/Swiss family that has lived on this farm for more than 40 years and has built the guesthouses bit by bit (see my profile for the other ones), recycling many materials that we collected from old mallorcan houses. Thereby giving our holiday homes a rustic and original air and making them more sustainable too. It has underfloor heating that is fed by a cosy chimney, so you can also enjoy the beautiful winter season on the island. The farm used to revolve around the old water mill, fueled by the little stream that passes through our property. We still use its big water reservoir as a natural “swimming pool” as it keeps deliciously cool throughout summer thanks to the stream always feeding it with fresh water. It is open to all guests (and animals) of the farm, please come join us! Think more of a tiny lake though, with naturally green water, fish and visiting geese (don’t worry, they are kind). Other than that we have many fields, woods, an orchard, fruit trees and a bunch of animals: chickens, geese, goats, sheep, cuddly cats and sometimes a pig. We produce fruit and veggies for ourselves, occasionally slaughter an animal for meat, collect chicken eggs and milk the goats every morning. With the milk we make delicious fresh cheese and yoghurt. Want to try some? Please come on! You will be surprised how yummy the fresh milk is. We are happy to teach you the process and to share any produce whenever we have enough. We run the farm and the guesthouses as sustainably and ecologically as we can, using solar energy, water from our own source, firewood from our woods and no pesticides or artificial fertilisers. Guest access The house is built on 2 floors and surrounded by different terraces, gardens and a small copse of mallorcan oaks, allowing plenty of space for the whole family to relax, gather or play as they like. The ground floor hosts the fully equipped kitchen, a living and dining room with a chimney, a bedroom (queen bed) and a bathroom with bathtub. The kitchen is open to the dining/living room and both lead out to different terraces equipped with large tables to enjoy shared family meals. On the upper floor there are two more bedrooms (one with two single beds and the other with a bunk bed) and a smaller bathroom with a shower. Both bedrooms lead out to a shared sun terrace. Other things to note We have three more guesthouses on our large 10 hectare property (~1000sq. ft). You can find two of these on my Airbnb profile, the third isn't online yet. *Some more words about our price policy: our intention is to make holidays for families with many kids more affordable. Therefore our prices don't just increase with the number of guests as usual, but rather with the number of adults. So the price that you see is for one family (2 adults + kids). If you would like to rent the place together with grandparents or other adults that have their own income we increase the price by 10€/Night/adult. I hope you understand and am happy to answer any questions about our policy! **In winter extra heating with the chimney is needed. We provide the fire wood from our own forest and charge 5-10€/day for it (depending on the season/usage). ***Ecotax: there is a mandatory ecotax on Mallorca that we collect and hand over to the government. Depending on the season and duration of the stay it is between 0,25 - 2,2€/day for adults. Kids under 16 are exempt.
