Other things to note One of the joys of West Polberro is that, if you don’t want to, you really don’t need to get in your car. The pretty village of St Agnes is a 15 minute walk away and has 3 pubs, multiple restaurants and a wide range of shops including a bakery, butchers, greengrocers, newsagent and post-office. Hot early morning croissants fresh from the Bakery are a favourite treat of ours. Trevaunance beach is a 20 minute beautiful walk along the coastal path towards St Agnes – and is a lovely family beach with opportunities for kayaking and surfing as well as restaurants and a pub. A further 20 minutes along the cliffs takes you to Trevallas Porth and the Blue Hills tin mine. Chapel Porth is a gem of a National Trust beach that is a 45 minute spectacular cliff walk away in the opposite direction. The beach is glorious with rock pools and caves at low tide and a wonderful café. It also is the starting point for multiple walks, inland to the Beacon or Mingoose, or along the cliffs to Porthtowan and the Blue Bar. Further afield The cathedral city of Truro is a 20 minute drive away and has a quiet charm with its cobbled streets, a wide range of independent shops, multiple cafes, restaurants, the Museum of Cornwall and the impressive cathedral itself. The Bowji is also a convenient base for day trips to the south coast of Cornwall with its estuaries and rolling, wooded coastal scenery that provide such a contrast to the more rugged north coast. Highlights include beautiful coastal walks, the Lizard peninsula, the Eden Project, the lost gardens of Heligan, the Fal estuary, Tremenheere and the towns of Newlyn and Mousehole. St Ives with its artistic heritage, the Tate modern and the Hepworth museum is a 45 minute drive away, and the far west of Cornwall with its Neolithic monuments and remote beauty is also within easy reach for day trips.
