Recreation and silence with a view over the Alps

The cosy studio apartment is located in the heart of the Emmental on 1140 m ABS with a view over Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The farmhouse from the year 1850 which was renovated in 2019 lies in a quiet neighbourhoor above the sea of fog. The flat has a seperate entrance and a sheltered terrasse with a view over the Alps. The terrasse, which is alined to the south is shared. The space Our holiday sutdio is an ideal base for people who love to be outdoors. On uncountable hiking and biking trails you can discover the beauty of the Emmental. Our two dogs and four cats love to be cuddled. If you are lucky you can even see some chamoises or deer that come to graze just a few meters away from the house. The charme of the old farm house will let you forget the stress of daily life and will invite you to cosy reading or playing games. With a sauna session or a tipically Swiss Cheese Raclette or Fondue on the sheltered terrasse you can complete a day of pure recovery. Due to great internet connection you can ideally use our retreat for working. Video calls or sending of big amount of data is not problem whatsoever. The studio reaches over two floors. In the bottom floor there is sofa corner, e dining or working table, a little but nevertheless fully equipped kitchen such as the bathroom with an open shower. In the upper floor, which is designed as a gallery with no doors is the sleeping room with a 1.60 m wide double bed. Other things to note Our house is located on the very top of a mountain on 1140 meters above sealevel. The ways from the both villages down in the valley (Langnau and Wasen) lead for 10 to 20 minutes over serpentines on asphaltic (except the last 100 meters) but nevertheless quite narrow and steep streets up to us. In wintry conditions four-wheel drive or at least snow chains are essential. Unfortunately the sutdio is not or only very badly reachable by public transport (there is a bus that passes by 4 times a day on the weekends during the summer months). There are no shopping facilities withing walking distance. In Langnau though there is a shopping centre called Ilfiscenter with a Coop supermarket, a pharmacy etc., a Migros supermarket, a little organic store, a organic store for bulk purchase such as many different specialized shops. Our kitchen is equipped with several pots and pans, all necessary crockery and cuttlery, a filter coffee pot such as a French press, a raclette grill and a fondue pot. Oil, vinegar (aceto balsamico, too), spices such as salt, pepper, paprika, cinnamon, curcuma, nutmeg etc. are always at your dispose. Further there is pasta, pesto, muesli, coffee, different lose tea and sugar included in the basic lay-out. Since we set a high value on sustainability, all those products are organic. For the breakfast there is always coffee & tea such as muesli in the apartment. Further there is always a selection of different home made breads which you can buy from us (plaited loaf Berne style, honey walnut bread, muesli bread, ginger curcuma bread, two coloured lemon and wild garlic plaited loaf). If you arrive from Wasen we recommend stopping by at the farm shop "Chäsi Wasen". They sell the 2020 and 2022 World Champion Gruyère from the nearby cheese dairy Fritzenhaus amongst many other delicacies such as other dairy products, meat, vegetalbes, bread and so on. Basically everything you need for daily use. This self-service farm shop is open daily from 06:00 am to 21:00 pm. As common for old farmhouses in the Emmental region, the ceilings are not very high. Therefore you might have to duck your head to pass underneath some joists in the upstairs' sleeping room. The little living room downstairs however reaches out over two floors. The village of Langnau is asking a visitor's tax. For 2024 it is CHF 1.00 per adult over 16 years of age and day. We kindly ask you to bring the money for the visitor's tax with you in cash on the check-in day.
