The Whale Cottage

Perched on top of a rock formation and nestled amongst its own tiny piece of fynbos and rock heaven, this artists cottage overlooks the mighty Atlantic ocean. The space With beautiful views of the Kleinmond Harbour to the East and the foot of the Kogelberg Mountain and the Palmiet River Mouth to the West, this self-catering home will provide you with the necessary solace only nature can provide. During whale season (August to November), keep your eyes peeled when standing in the garden overlooking the waves, as you might have the privilege of spotting a whale or two! The cottage provides easy access to the Kogelberg Nature Reserve with the walking path starting just 80 meters away from the front garden. The path leads to the Palmiet River Mouth with its unspoiled beach. The rocks along the path are perfect for the fishing enthusiast. Birdwatchers will also appreciate what the reserve has to offer. Towards the Kleinmond Harbour one is spoiled for choice when it comes to seafood restaurants, art galleries and other amenities. The Whale Cottage comfortably sleeps 6 and consists of 2 bedrooms, a newly renovated bathroom with shower and toilet, a brand new Dovre fireplace for those cold winter nights, an outside braai (barbecue) and outside seating. The beds are fitted with electric blankets during winter time and extra blankets are provided. The fully fitted kitchen has a Smeg gas stove / electric oven, Nespresso machine, a cafetière as well as a Moka Pot. There is a scullery with a dishwasher and LG washing / dryer machine and hand hoover. Guest access Guests will be able to use the whole of the cottage and the garden in the front. The garage and flatlet situated at the back of the house is used for storage. Other things to note There is unlimited wi-fi (with UPS for times during load shedding). There’s a Samsung smart TV with Netflix and online DSTV channels. A baby camping cot, high chair and baby bath is available on request.
