Remote Retreat in private field, ideal for dogs

Stay in our beautifully crafted wooden Shepherd’s Hut with luxurious large veranda all set in your own private south facing enclosed field next to the river. Surrounded by rolling green hills, this is the perfect eco-getaway, with solar powered electricity and extensive outdoor space. Enjoy the unique design with many walks on offer directly from your hut. Ideal for dog owners, hikers, cyclists and nature lovers, or anyone looking to get away from the normal hustle and bustle of life. The space The Shepherd's Hut has been lovingly crafted and furnished to provide a uniquely stylish and cosy retreat. Showcasing the natural wood and slate furniture that we make for a living, the space contains cleverly designed table and benches that slide out from under the bed for spacious indoor dining, and lots of hidden storage for your belongings. The Shepherd's hut has been very well insulated and even on the coldest winter days you will be dry and toasty inside with the wood burner and running hot water. Outside is the addition of a large south facing veranda, so you can enjoy the Welsh outdoors no matter what the weather. There is a composting toilet and gas-powered shower attached to the back of the cabin with spectacular views. Enjoy your breakfast on the veranda or at the table outside and maybe spot the grey heron flying in to catch his food from the river. In the evening you can sit outdoors around a bonfire to gaze at the stars and listen out for the owls, or watch the moon rise over the fields from your comfy bed. Keep your eyes pealed for badgers and otters, and enjoy guaranteed peace and quiet and connection to nature. There is no wi-fi, but there is mobile phone reception depending on your network. Parking is available 50m from the Hut, just on the other side of the hedge Please note, we ask guests to please bring their own towels. Or we can supply on request for £5/person. All bedding and linen is provided. Firewood for the burner inside is provided free of charge. We ask for a donation of £5 per basket of wood used on the bonfire. Guest access The Shepherd's Hut is in your own private south facing field with fire pit and picnic table. We ask for £5 per basket of wood used for bonfires. We have a second shepherd's hut in its own field round the corner; the two huts are private from one another and there is no shared land between them. Other things to note This is glamping at its best. Make a fire in the wood stove inside to keep warm in winter (there is a gas hob for cooking inside and a BBQ gas cooker outside), or a bonfire outside under the stars on clear nights. This is Wales and the weather is unpredictable, so it's advisable to bring good footwear and waterproofs. The cabin is all off-grid and is powered by the the sun through photovoltaic panels. These amazingly efficient solar panels provide constant lighting even in the darkest winter months. We also have 240v power supply for charging phones and laptops but it is not powerful enough to power appliances such as hairdryers, toasters or blenders. There is no Wifi but there is mobile signal, depending on your provider (we are on EE and get a great signal). Or we can supply on request for £5/person. A note on fire wood: Fire wood for the wood burner inside the cabin is included at no extra charge. Fire wood for the outside bonfire is charged on an honesty basis. It's such a joy to sit outside around a fire of an evening that we've found the woodpile can very quickly disappear! So we ask for £5 per basket of wood used outside the cabin. Dogs We welcome dogs large and small and it's a wonderful space for dogs to run around in. Please be aware that there are often horses over the river and in spring there are lambs in the fields adjacent. There is fencing all around our property, but if you have a very determined dog, it is important to be aware that there are potentially other animals close by. We ask that dogs do not ever go on or in the bed.
