The 1882 Old House Vodnikova
Description
This is one of the oldest houses in the centre of the village of Bohinjska Bistrica, and was modernised about 12 years ago. The village is the gateway to the stunning Gorenska region, the Triglav National Park and close to the Lake of Bohinj and not far from the lake of Bled : wonderful for walking, hiking, cycling, watersports, climbing, mountaineering, skiing, sightseeing or just relaxing. The space The house is fully equipped with all that you may need for an extended stay. Although there are four double bedrooms, there are also two sofa beds meaning that a larger family with children can stay here comfortably, or even a party of friends. Each room has cupboard space and/or wardrobes. The house is usually cool in the summer and the log fire and central heating soon warm up in the winter. The kitchen is equipped with a ceramic hob, a fan oven, kettle, coffee machine, microwave oven, mixer, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The Utility room has a washing machine, and a tumble drier with towel shelves. The towels are for use in the house but please do not take them out of the house for swimming! Drying racks are provided on the balcony and in the garage. An iron and ironing board are available in the kitchen. There are two bathrooms, with WC and wash basin and showers, and the larger one has a bath. There is a small balcony upstairs with table and chairs, and a small patio downstairs at the rear of the house. Sadly, we have no garden as such, but close by you have parks, streams, the river and the lake. The staircase takes you up to the small upstairs bedroom, giving access to the balcony, the large lounge and the Verandah bedroom. Two sofa beds are in the lounge. Some personal items are stored in the garage or the cellar, and we would be grateful if you would respect this. Otherwise, this space can be used for storage of bikes, push chairs or luggage. Guest access There is a parking space for at least one car in front of the house, and by arrangement with the neighbours, possibly another. There is a lay-by round the corner where cars can be parked. Parking is also free down in the village near the supermarkets. Opposite the house there is a little lane which brings you to the centre of the village in 2-3 minutes by foot. There are wonderful walks in and around the village and area and maps are available. There is a cycling and walking path near the campsite which takes you all the way to the lake if you have an hour or so to spare! Cycle or ski hire is possible in the village. Parking near the lake is quite expensive but our local agent, LD Turizem offer a Bohinj card which gives discounts on parking as well as other attractions. Local buses go to the Lake, to Bled and Bled Lake, Radovlica, Kranj, Ljubljana and further afield. There is also a shuttle bus in the summer season to the lake and in winter to the ski slopes. The Bohinj Train is well worth catching either through the Bohinj Tunnel to the Soča Valley or in the other direction to Bled and beyond. Other things to note .We have a smoke alarm and a Carbon Monoxide detector and there is a First Aid Kit in the kitchen (please replace items used for the next guests - thank you!). Parking can sometimes be difficult near the house. The road narrows and yet it is one of the main thoroughfares in the village. It is nicknamed “Kravi put” - the cow path: every morning the local cows find their way up to the high pastures, and every evening they return home for milking! There are at least 3 farms nearby so you will be staying right in the country.
