Description
Come and escape to the peaceful and nostalgic surroundings of Cromdale old train station, which has been refurbished for a relaxing, comfortable and quirky fun holiday for young and old alike. In the heart of the Cairngorms on the Speyside Way, it is the perfect location for walking, outdoor pursuits, castle and distillery trails and more. It is close to the towns of Grantown and Aviemore for restaurants and amenities. The art room also provides extra space and enjoyment for all ages. The space The house was the original Cromdale train station built in 1863 which has been renovated into a 3 bedroom house. The line was closed to passengers in 1965 (distillery line closed in 1968) and the track is now a popular walking route (The Speyside Way). The old ticket office is now the kitchen, the waiting room is the lounge, the station master's bedroom is the master bedroom (now with king size bed), and the lamp room now contains a triple bunk which is most suitable for children (top bunks suitable for 6+). Please note, there is no option for a triple bunk, therefore the listing shows two bed bunk plus single. The other bedroom contains a double bed. There is a newly refurbished ensuite bathroom and a separate shower room. We also have an art studio next to the house for your use (children must be supervised at all times). In addition, there is a summer house (or 'sitooterie') in the garden containing a table football and items for garden games/ sports. There is a also ping pong table outside in the car port area (shared with carriage guests) and also a barbecue near the store room (which is on wheels and should be moved to a place away from buildings and trees before using). Please note, if you have a larger group, you can also book the carriage if available (sleeps 4). See link. Guest access You can use the large main garden and can also sit on the platform (please take care around the platform edge and supervise children). You can also use the art studio in the grey 'station master's shed' and the 'sitooterie' (summer house). Please do not use the space and other garden by the carriage which is used as accommodation by other guests. Other things to note Please note, there may be other guests staying in the train carriage. The carriage has a separate garden and separate parking space so this should not interfere with your privacy. Please do not enter the carriage or the garden or space around the carriage without the guests' permission. Parties on the property are not allowed. Please ask if you intend to invite visitors. Details of any visitors are required. Please note that although we have the best WiFi available, we are in a rural area of the Highlands and cannot guarantee fast internet speeds or the capacity to cope with multiple devices. Also note the bunk bed in the house is a triple bunk rather than double bunk plus single as shown on listing (there is no option for a triple bunk). The top bunk is very high and it is advised that children aged under 6 should only use the lower bunk. Also the bunks may not be comfortable for large adults and should not be used by those weighing 18 stone or more. We do not consider the property suitable for those with mobility issues. We welcome dogs but please no more than 2 at a time. Dogs must be kept off furnishings, out of bedrooms and bathrooms and not left unattended. Please note electric car charging is strictly prohibited as is a safety risk. Please use charging stations in local area (can be found in Grantown). Guests who violate this rule will be instructed to depart and an extra £100 charge will be applied. Contact us for an extra discount if you'd like to stay for 2 weeks or more. Latest EPC rating = F. This should have improved recently as we have had an efficient new boiler installed and increased loft insulation. STL Licence number: HI-70673-F
